The kids who participate also get a free kids meal from Chick-fil-A, and who passes up a free meal. This year I kept up with one of my good friends who work with Chick-fil-A and he told me they needed some extra help out there. I chose to do this event because it seemed like it would be a fun way to hang out with kids, and help Chick-fil-A in any way I can. I enjoy hanging out with kids so I knew I would enjoy this event. I got to dress up, get my face painted, and hang out with kids for four hours.
I first heard about the play in the paper, got a few recommendations, read the reviews, and saw the website online. The Raven Theater is in my neighborhood and I pass it frequently during the week. The names of the plays that are being performed are always advertised outside the theater right next to the parking lot. The Raven Theater Company publicized Radio Golf quite enough for it to be sold out on many days while it lasted. When I went, there were a lot of people and it was towards the middle of the production dates, meaning that many people had gone to see this play and were still doing so.
Blackrock Summit Steve 12/3/10 Last summer I spent three separate weekends hiking in Shenandoah National Park with friends. I camped in Loft Mountain close to the southern end of the park, and at the lodges in the Big Meadows settlement. Entering the park on the northern end I drove along the Skyline Drive for a few hours until I reached the Loft Mountain campgrounds. Each night we tried find a good place to watch the sunset and have a few beverages. Our favorite place to experience this ritual was at the top of the Blackrock Summit trail.
DJ Williams Projekt Two days ago on Sunday, December 9th I went with my roommate, to see the DJ Williams Projekt, one of the most popular bands of Richmond in recent times. The group consisted of DJ Williams on guitar, also added vocals from time to time, Dusty Simmons on the drums, Brian Mahne on the keyboard, Gordon Jones on the saxophone, Todd Herrington on the bass, and Mark Ingraham on the trumpet. Café Diem, which holds an open mic night every Sunday, is where this sextet performed for us. It is a small restaurant located on N. Sheppard Street in Richmond. Besides for open mic night on Sundays, they have live music every night of the week.
Clay Currey Professor Bailey English B 17 February 2010 Real or Fake? In neighborhoods across America and even in rural areas, people live next door and down the street. These people interact everyday and even believe they are close friends. Their children play on sports teams together. The parents attend parties and invite their neighbors to super bowl parties.
The ride to Chapel Hill took about two and a half hours. When we get to Chapel Hill we park at the Baptist Student Union because it is very close to our tailgating spot outside of the Cobb parking deck. We tailgate with our family and friends before and after every home game. My cousins are there, one of which goes to Carolina and the other is a senior in high school, my grandma is there, and friends of my cousin’s parents are there as well. There is all sorts of food there; fried chicken, chicken salad, regular salad, chips and dip, fruit, some sort of dessert, and all different kinds of drinks.
The program provides adult mentors for children and youth who have one or both of their parents incarcerated in a state or federal prison. Children are matched with an adult volunteer to form a consistent friendship. Mentor/mentee matches spend time together going to the movies or beach, participating in community events, playing sports or just hanging out and having fun. Mentees will spend a minimum of one hour every week for one year with their mentor. All mentors are thoroughly screened through the Department of Justice and complete a reference and Department of Motor Vehicles check.
This was always the hot part of the year. Every one on the team would all show up and sit under the small shade tree on the far side of the field. We would sit and talk about ours summer and the up coming school year. Then “she” would come walking up. All five foot and one hundred pounds of her.
As a child, every fall, my parents would take me and my siblings camping. Dad worked a lot, so we counted down the days of summer, until we got to be together. Every breath I took was like I was inhaling my childhood. I could hear the waves bouncing off the rocks as we sat on the patio and had lunch. The smell of the water and the warmth that touched my skin, when the sun peeked through the clouds, took me back in time to the campground.
