On September 11, 2001, the United States was invaded for the first time since the War of 1812 also known as “America’s second war of Independence”. Terrorist’s that had been living in America boarded and hijacked civilian airlines, leading to the deaths of many American’s. By no means should we forfeit all Individual Privacy Rights but we should find a way to work with the government that protects us to better our National Security. The terrorist acts of 9/11 forced the U.S Government to take action and create the USA Patriot Act, signed into law by President George W. Bush on October 26, 2001. This act reduced the restrictions for U.S. agencies gathering information and intelligence within the United States.
The injuries inflicted in the war must fit the violence that was displayed; assuring that unnecessary force was not used. All in all, a Just War must be fought with the right intentions The War in Iraq started March 20, 2003 with the invasion of Iraq from the United States. According to the principles of Just War tradition, “The war can only be waged as the last resort, with all nonviolent actions exhausted”. Other nonviolent alternatives were clear and different measures could’ve been sought. The first planned attack was to send 3,000 bombs and missiles out on the Iraqi people where civilians were among the population, unarmed and innocent.
Terrorist are very smart and very skilled when it comes to planning mass amounts of chaos and loss of life. Terrorist are also unrelenting and will stop at nothing to achieve their goal of terrorizing other nations. Our border security would fare pretty well against a terrorist attack, but our airport security , in my opinion, is weak and not at all prepared or secure enough to prevent another 9/11, especially if the attack is done on a grander
The worldwide problems presented by Sutler and his party started with the “American’s War”, referencing the war in Iraq currently in progress. This war in the world today has caused many problems for America and many other countries involved in this pointless war. The around the clock surveillance of the people of London in the film brings to mind the Patriot Act in this country. Government could definitely find a
Throughout his whole speech, he uses an anger and disparaging tome to reflect Bush’s point of view. Overall, George Bush uses emotional appeal, metaphors, and tone to portray Al Qaeda as iniquitous freedom haters which persuades the audience to recognise his contention and accept his point of view. Americans are depicted as victims of war from the September 11th terrorist incident with George Bush’s speech. An anecdote is used in the first paragraph to portray this: “...Americans have known the casualties of war--but not at the centre of a great city on a peaceful morning. Americans have known surprise attacks—but never before on thousands of civilians.
Effects of the Cliché “Actions Speak Louder Than Words” On the 11th of September 2001, the entire world was affected by the terrorist attacks on the United States of America. On the Sunday after these attacks, then U.S. President George W. Bush made a speech announcing his plan to “rid the world of the evil-doers” who traumatized his country earlier that week. Bush also inadvertently drew a parallel from this event to another event that traumatized many: The Crusades that took place during the Middle Ages. "This crusade, this war on terrorism is gonna take awhile” said Bush. The unintentional reference to the Middle Age’s Crusades George W. Bush made in his response to the 9/11 attacks was justly criticized as it connected the problem at hand to the violence of religious warfare, inflicted anxiety upon a vast amount of the world’s population, and holds a fearsome truth.
The 9-11 Incident was surely a tragedy. Thinking back, I still remember the fury inside my heart when I witnessed the whole scenario on TV during my history class in 2001, even though I was not an American citizen. Within couple of weeks, America had declared war on Iraq, and encouraged an immediate capture of terrorist leader. I wondered, what would the title of the war be? A vengeance on Iraq?
However, the law was never recanted, and they are still in effect today. For this, the Egyptian people despised their dictator. After 18 days of protest, the Egyptian people overthrew Mubarak. He and his most trusted ministers were placed on trial within 9 months, and accused of corruption, conspiracy, profiteering, fraud and money laundering. To understand this unforeseen change in power, one must first examine the unexpected spark to the Egyptian Revolution. The Egyptian Revolution began with the death of Khaled Said, a 28-year old man in Alexandria, who was beaten to death by the police because he was protesting against the government.
Anti-Islam film: Christian and Islamic fundamentalists leaning on each other Written by Fred Weston Wednesday, 19 September 2012 A cheap, crude, anti-Islamic film entitled The Innocence of Muslims, produced and promoted by reactionary Christian fundamentalists in the United States and posted on the internet in July, has led to demonstrations in many countries around the world, including attacks on US embassies and in the case of Libya to the killing of four US diplomats at the US Consulate in Benghazi. We look into why all this is happening. Rally in Sydney. Photo: Jamie KennedyAccording to reports, the film originally had the title Desert Warriors and was not about Muhammad at all. Actors who had taken part in the film have claimed they were unaware of the fact that the film was about Muhammad, and that the storyline which transformed the film into the format in which it eventually appeared on the internet was the result of dubbing.
Despite this, Zenger’s defense found every opportunity to present that truth should be a justifiable defense in a libel case. The defense also argued that free speech was fundamental to a good, successful government. John Peter Zenger was found not guilty of the charges. There is much controversy regarding the importance of the Zenger Affair’s impact on the history of New York. Some say that it was nothing more than an inconclusive political confrontation.
