(How Woodstock Happened, n.d.) News began to travel fast of this incredibly large festival. Just four days prior to this authentic show down there was an estimated 50,000 people waiting close to the stage. Because of the massive group that showed before the event took place the four organizers; Roberts, Rosenman, Kornfeld and Lang were unwillingly forced to make the concert free. Once the word got out about the free concert, cops turned
This four day concert ,created by Michael Lang and Artie Kornfeld ,was a silent, peaceful way for people all over the world to promote world peace, not violence. These two creators soon met up with two investors, John Roberts and Joel Rosenman. Soon, Woodstock was not just a dream. It was a dream come true. People all over the world proved that prejudice is never the answer.
Is it ethical or unethical…that is the question. First off, what is “professional courtesy?” In law enforcement professional courtesy is when an on-duty officer pulls over an off-duty or retired officer for some traffic violation and lets him go, by not issuing a ticket or arresting him. The central ideal behind this behavior is that cops have to stick together, to look out for each other. In a profession that yields little respect from the general public officers should support other officers, not try to bring them down. This subject has many perspectives however, and each officer, depending on his life experiences and personal values, feels differently about this ethical dilemma.
The Festival of 1969 Woodstock attendee Joni Mitchell said “Woodstock was a spark of beauty where half-a-million kids saw that they were part of a greater organism” (“About Woodstock 1969”). Director Ang Lee wanted to put this beauty into a film and did so by portraying one man’s experience of Woodstock. The film Taking Woodstock is based off of Elliot Tiber’s role and experience at Woodstock. The main people responsible for putting on Woodstock are John Roberts, Joel Rosenman, Artie Kornfeld, and Mike Lang. The oldest of these four men was only 27 years old (Rosenberg 1).
On August 31st, 2012, the band played an outdoor concert at the Gorge Amphitheater in George, Washington, playing a 25-song set, almost 3 hours in length. The venue has been a favorite destination for the band resulting in a live album entitled The Gorge, which was released 8 years prior to this concert. The band reached deep into their catalog, choosing songs from their first album all the way to their latest album as of the time of the filming of the concert. Joining the band at this show was Tim Reynolds (electric guitar), Jeff Coffin (saxophone), and Rashawn Ross (horns). Tim Reynolds has been a frequent collaborator with Dave Matthews and the Dave Matthews Band, often joining Dave as a duet in smaller venues and also on various albums receiving dual billing.
We know that police officers use excessive force, and they also use their authority to verbally abuse people. So what causes police officers to abuse their authority, and (or) leads to brutality? One of the challenges with this is that not every citizen reports a police brutality, whether they see one happening, heard of one happening from their friends or family or if they themselves were a victim of one. Another challenging issue too is that we know some brutalities are not reported; therefore it makes it harder to measure those versus what is actually reported. Police brutality wouldn’t be an issue if we didn’t have to police our law enforcement officers.
Although police officers stand for peace, there are many countries where people view police not as the hero but as the villain. Even in safe, developed countries like Canada and the United States, acts of police misconduct have occurred. For these reasons, police officers should not be allowed to carry firearms. Eliminating guns won’t eliminate police misconduct; however it will take some power away from them but that can be good because they will also be gaining power this way. It sounds confusing but when people see a man with a gun, no matter what side of the law he is on, they will get intimidated and possibly fear him.
Tickets bought three days in advance were $18, the price at the gate was $24. Woodstock began at exactly 5:07 pm on Friday August 15, 1969. Richie Havens began the festival with “Minstel From Gault Q”. My mom and dad were 2 of about 400,000 people that came on to the 600 acre farm of Max Yasgur in Bethel, NY that day. My mom says Yasgur should of offered his farm up for the sake of the cause but in
This essay will consist on how these musicians took control of America and the impact it gave to us. Their energy came across the screen and caused young girls to scream and their fathers to protest. The Beatles came to New York City on February 7,1964,less than three months after the assassination of J.F.K. In his book “The Beatles Come To America” Martin Goldsmith states that and the band brought with them a sound that hadn’t been heard before and helped rouse the country out of mourning. John Lennon wrote over 70 of the songs by himself, including A Hard Days Night, Let It Be, All You need is love, Come Together, and I Am the Walrus.
My First Grateful Dead Concert On the day of my first “Dead show”, in April of 1989, I was awakened in the morning by the sound of my mother’s voice screaming “David…telephone”. I was slow getting to the phone because I had not gone to bed that night until after 3:00 AM. I said “hello” and to my surprise it was Scott, a friend from work, on the other end of the line. He asked “do you want to go see The Grateful Dead in concert tonight in Michigan?” Since that moment, “What a long strange trip it’s been”. I didn’t say yes right away because I had just came home from seeing R.E.M.
