Teenagers especially often ridicule their parents for their loud outburst and mortified shouting in public areas. Majority of the time people often stereotype others without even being aware of their actions and realizing the damage of their behavior. Stereotyping is harmful to others because it places them under unwanted labels and if acted on in a negative way can lead to discrimination. The movie “Freedom Writers” was centered on a group of teenagers who were placed in a developmental class because they didn’t measure up to the other students, but not because they couldn’t because they didn’t feel the need to apply themselves. Why Teens Join Gangs Teenagers are often emotionally insecure and want to fit in with people who have the same mind set. Teens sometimes choose to associate with people who have a bad effect on them such as gang members.
