Over the past number of years childhoods have changed beyond recognition. The main reason for this is due to young children’s exposure to technology. Children are being exposed to technology and the internet at ever-younger ages, and in some cases children have digital footprints before they are even born with parents posting pre-birth scans online. There is very little information on what impact this exposure to technology can have on young children as it has not been it hasn’t been around long enough to assess in detail. There is a worldwide debate about this matter and there are valid arguments for each side.
But two phones in particular have won peoples' hearts -the iphone and the blackberry- leaving them in hesitance which to choose between the two similar yet very different devices. From my personal experience,the two devices are very alike . Both of them have an app store and and app world where you can get many applications . One main reason of the popularity of these cellphones that they emerged to the market at the same time,when there was no smart devices, and maintained the good reputation and competed at the same level. An extra credit goes for the companies behind the cellphones they produce, RIM and Apple Inc. -the creators of the devices- built their reputation and trademarks over the years by producing good quality, products and services which lead costumers loyalty .
One problem the internet caused stated in the documentary is, it is very hard for parents and authorities to regulate what kids do on the computer. Since the internet is so easy to access via new technologies, authoritative figures just cannot be present with the kids all the time. Another issue the internet has caused reported by the documentary is by it being so addictive, it has taken time away from studying, school work and activities such as reading. This is a problem because education is almost a must in today’s society. However, the documentary fails to acknowledge how the internet has helped kids by providing ways to find answers and acquire research and knowledge.
Since so much of what we use in everyday life involves technology, it is only fair to introduce our youth to it and get them accustomed to using it frequently. People never send handwritten letters anymore, that’s partially why companies like the USPS was considering reducing the amount of days they deliver. Majority of people are using email, social networking and phones to communicate. Not only is it easier, but more efficient and allows us complete more tasks since “everything is happening much faster, and more things are happening” (Source C). Not only will it help students in the future, it’ll also make learning more compelling, after all students do prefer “glitz and pictures” and “video and stylish packaging” (Source E).
In order to stay competitive in my professional career I will need to be extremely proficient with these mobile computing devices. End users today are do not have to be attached to their desk and computers. With these new smartphones and tablets your office can be anywhere you are. All you need is an internet connection and a place to set up. The cool thing is your cellular phone can be both those devices at the same time.
As technology advances, it seems students are becoming lazy, and losing interest in the opportunity for an education. Too many kids just want to stay home and watch TV, play video games and go on the internet. It’s time our society takes a new approach in using technology as a significant part of a student’s education. We are in the twenty-first century now, so maybe we should act like it. On the other hand, some argue that incentives dramatically change the way students perceive their education.
It's been the highest selling phone for years and it happens to be one of the simplest, if not the simplest phone on the market with an extremely user-friendly interface. In a sense, it seems as if we're on the edge of developments within technology, so much of what exists today has been around for a while and people can care less about it's origin and the underlying technological foundations of certain products or systems. If it works, then good. If it doesn't it's fixed or trashed and another is purchased. According to the article Technically Speaking: Why Americans Need To Know More About Technology (2002), the author mentions that “technological literacy encompasses three interdependent dimensions- knowledge, ways of thinking and acting, and capabilities” and suggest the “goal of technological literacy is to provide people with the tools to participate intelligently and thoughtfully in the world around them.” This is where we fail as a nation.
In contrast, we can find lots of places which amazing opportunities for entertainment. Another fact that create difference beetween generations is modern tecnology such as TV, mobile phones, computers that important part of our generation’s entertainment and we cant imagine our life without these.Instead of this, those people were spending their free time playing games together or doing physical activities. In other words, life was more realistic as there were no virtual ways for entertainment., unlike
Americans let children of the age 7 or less play with a tablet or an iPad instead of taking them to the park to play. That it gets to the point that the children of such young age are asking for the technology to be entertained instead of going outside. Thus putting the blame on the parents since they as well are on their own device taking the easy route for their children. Considering in today’s world parents are able to access any social media at any moment on their smart phone and hear stories of children going missing and all these horrific events going on. Parents worry more and become overly protective over their children.
Children who are older may be able to understand the difference between fantasy and reality a little better, therefore older children should be able to play games at a parents discretion. Some experts say,” kids are attracted to video games not so much by the violence, but because the games present puzzles or problems to solve (Sherry 1). The media and many other angry parents like to find a source to blame such as video games. Although video games are very entertaining and becoming more of a virtual reality the truth
