Many people are addicted to texting and social networking like Facebook. Sherry Turkle, in her essay “Alone Together”, argues that the machine-mediated relationships might cause many problems between people. And more and more people are “playing themselves” online with different identities. People are even more alone after using modern technology. Kenji Yoshino, in his essay “Covering: The Hidden Assault on Our Civil Rights”, asserts that everyone covers, and people cover in order to be accepted by the mainstream.
With advances in wireless technology we can go further than ever before. If you own a computer, you have probably used the internet. In the following paragraphs I would like to reflect over the internet, what cyberbullying is, and how it impacts us as a society. If you can imagine this big web of interconnected people spanning the planet, now more than ever people are getting online to Today in America, we have the ability to analyze information and opinions to support whatever side of the argument you are on; we are literally saturated with information. In the writings of Paul Ceruzzi’s, A History of Modern Computing, he begins by mentioning the technological fix, and gives a brief history on the foundation of the internet as we know it today.
The human abilities we possess have become the age of technology. Everything we do today is either computer generated or technology driven. Wynn explains that that the use of cellphones, email, texting, social network sites on the internet, instant messaging and video and internet-based games are on the rise in college settings. As students use technology as the basis of communication, social connections through technology is becoming more of the norm, and relationships are extended and not rendered. As technology increases, person-to-person interaction is becoming more connected.
Social Media With the rapid growth of social media in recent years, it’s no surprise that millions of people are affected by its existence. Social media does provide many benefits. On the downside, it offers an escape from reality which negatively impacts individuals. Relationships between people are also influenced big time, both negatively and positively. This new way of communication serves a purpose of Isolating people from their every day communication and socialization by throwing them into a state of loneliness and exclusion from the outside world, and by detracting them from face-to-face communication with people. It is overwhelming when you think about how media is consuming, influencing and altering the way society thinks, what people believe and how individuals see and live their lives as a result of mobile devices, notebooks, iPad, satellite TV, instant messaging. The turbulent power of the Internet has made ecology and vital model in the new media backdrop. A community consists of members who share like interest and or pursuits. They are based on common purpose and or behaviors.
The internet has completely changed the way today’s society views the world around it. Whether it’s a Facebook status, or a firsthand news story from halfway around the world, the internet has allowed people to have their voice heard on a global level, and has allowed them to share information in a much faster, and more efficient way. The internet has become a vital part of many countries economic infrastructure, and has allowed for the start-up of a multitude of different businesses. It has also given people the ability to have freedom of speech in places where saying the wrong thing could mean life in jail. Although internet access allows for a much more connected global society, multiple governments and private corporations plan on denying this for their own personal gain.

With its web sites, Chat rooms, Twitter and Facebook at the present, it is a means of communicating with people in places all over the face of the earth. The Internet is more than a physical network of wires linking individual computers to one another. It is also a network of people and information resources. Meanwhile addiction, which come from word addict is a person who cannot stop taking or doing something harmful.
With all of the best and worst of human nature reflected on the Internet, it should not be a surprise to anyone that, with the growth of the Internet, there have been attempts to control how people use it. The kinds of people who try to restrict the Internet use of specific people are as wide-ranging as are their goals. They include parents, schools, commercial companies, operators of Internet Service Providers, and governments at different levels. But some of the methods used to achieve restrictions may be seen as legitimate and necessary while some of these methods are unacceptable acts of censorship and a violation of fundamental human rights. As our Human Rights state: “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.” (United Nations, 1948) The creators of the Internet generally believed that “there is only one Internet, that it is global, and that it should allow any two computers anywhere in the world to communicate directly with one another.”(Floss Manuals, 2011) Now, in many respects, information has never been so free.
Not only is it helpful to distribute the latest information, but also creates opportunities for talented people and attack piracy. With the help of the internet, information exchanging becomes more convenient. In the modern world, information is the key point which sometimes determines success and failure of an event. Every second the internet provides considerable information which is the latest and most complete. Big music companies make full use of this feature to run the business.
