My Teacher Hero Award Nomination 2/13/12 What makes a hero? Is it someone who saves lives for a living, or does an amazing action that saves others? I don’t believe that is the case. A hero , for me, is someone who changes the people’s lives around them. The teacher I think should win this award is Mrs.Kerr, my third grade teacher at Warren Elementary. She never lifted a car above her head to get someone out of harms way or stood in front of a bullet to save another. No! She deserves this Teacher Hero Award for a totally different reason. Mrs.Kerr had such a homey feel to her classroom. And she actually cared for her students, in a different way than any other teacher I've ever known. She was definitely a strict teacher, but yet, she didn't expect too much. These are just a FEW of the reasons why I think she should win the Teacher Hero Award. Like I said, Mrs.Kerrs classroom always has such a homey feel to it. Let me paint out a picture for you. You walk into a classroom with dimmed lamps at every table of four. You smell candles. For example, one of my favorite Scentsy scents, Enchanted Mist, was like the PERFECT blend of juicy apples, enchanted and sweetened by rose petals and rich jasmine. Her walls were painted light blue with white puffy clouds all over. On the (what I like to call it) “Story time Rug” was a rocking chair that would make you think of your grandmas house! Blankets and pillows stacked neatly in a pile. With a variety of beanbags for those few special students (AHEM me! :D) This kind of cheerful, cozy, and just snug as a bug feeling makes me feel at home, knowing that Mrs.Kerr was there for me and still is as of today, as she always will be! Mrs.Kerr cares about her students SO much. She isn't just one of them ordinary teachers that arrive to school five minutes before class starts and leaves immediately after. She takes the time and effort
