There are several key actors who can affect the future of RU-486 in the US. President Reagan and his administration, Commissioner Young, and pro-life interest groups do not want RU-486 to be distributed in the US. Pro-choice groups, Roussel and other pharmaceutical companies want RU-486 to be present in the US market. In the long term, the Republican administration and its pro-life allies will want to solidify the FDA’s position on RU-486 making it difficult for opponents to infiltrate the agency’s bureaucratic structure and allow possible approval of the drug. Opponents will want to keep the FDA structure more open, hoping to gain an opportunity for policy change with a shift in political
The more liberal section of the party hold views in more environmental protection and those who seek to modernise the party, which was Cameron’s initiative, by promoting strong social justice. The Party are in conflict over the European Union, pro-union Tories are in conflict with the Euro- sceptics in the party over whether to call an in-out referendum, a division which has been continually worsening over the years leading to conservative MP’s defecting from the Conservatives to UKIP, for example Douglas Carswell defected to UKIP after saying he didn’t feel David Cameron ‘was serious about the change we need’
Wendy Warner Intro to American Government William Schweers February 7, 2012 “Tea Party” The name “Tea Party” is a reference to the Boston Tea Party, a protest by colonists who objected to a British tax on tea in 1773 and demonstrated by dumping British tea taken from docked ships into the harbor. Some commentators have referred to the Tea in “Tea Party” as the backronym “Taxed Enough Already”. The Tea Party movement is a political movement in America aimed at clearly communicating to Washington its displeasure with government spending. The Tea Party movement has no central leadership, but is composed of a loose affiliation of national and local groups that determine their own platforms and agendas. The Tea Party movement has been cited as an example of grassroots political activity, although it has been described as an example of astroturfing.
There is however another point of view according to witch the Mohawk disguise for The Boston Thea Party was not chosen accidentally, and had deep symbolic significance for the Sons of Liberty, and those who were well informed about the Tea Party plans actually took the time to prepare the proper costume. The tea party movement (TPM) is an American political movement that is generally recognized as conservative and libertarian, and has sponsored protest and supported political candidates since 2009. It endorses reduced government spending, opposition to taxation in varying degrees,
This essay opened my eyes to really realize how much things have changed and how many things evolve. Including small everyday things such as coffee. Change can be good and bad, but for coffee lovers, this essay was very easy to relate to. Personally, coffee is not a daily routine for me. I would much rather have a nice, warm, rich cup of hot chocolate.
In spite of being biased for a certain group of manufacturers, the transition from the body of the article to its end is smooth. The way Gladwell ends the article is quite impressive as the article ends with a question mark leaving it to the readers to decide. They can decide the either way, but the details provided by Gladwell would have to be considered. In conclusion, what we can say is that overall Gladwell’s article is informative, well written and well organized. The transition of the paragraphs is acceptable with topic sentences, which are well explained.
A voter could switch from voting for the Conservatives to vote for the Labour Party at the next election because they decide according to single issues. In general the public today is not really aligned to parties anymore. I would say that party allegiance is something which is nearly vanished in Britain’s voting behavior. There are still groups which are strongly related to one or the other party but that is not as common as was in the 50s and 60s. The important things today are which party has at the moment the right promises for the single voter and which party is better in delivering policy goals.

It is liked due to its simple structure and clear link between electorate and representative. However opponents argue that the overall outcomes are disproportional and unfair and that they perpetuate a two party system. Supplementary Vote This system is a shortened version of the Alternative Vote. Under SV, there are two columns on the ballot paper one for voters to mark their first preference vote and one in which to make a second supplementary vote. Voters mark one ‘X’ in each column, although voters are not required to make a second choice if they do not wish to.
It is not unusual to see board members shedding tears or extending a hand to those who share their criticisms or appreciation. It is in these soft moments where emotion is welcome that I have come to realize that politicians and the US government are not simply a machine that takes input and creates output. Those who decide to run for a seat have a vested interest in the preservation or betterment of America. I wholeheartedly believe that Stillwater’s school board is filled with well-intentioned people. This speaks to success of democracy at this level.
