Unit 12.3 B F Skinner B F Skinner is recognised as being a key figure in developing the behaviourist approach to learning theory and in particular in developing the theory of operant conditioning. Skinner theorised that most humans and animals take an active approach in the learning process through exploring the environment and then drawing conclusions based on the consequences of their behaviour. Skinner divided the consequences of actions into three groups: Positive reinforcers. People are more likely to repeat behaviour when they get something they desire.
