Ten years from now, it is scary to think of what will happen with water. There are many purposes to water. The Tarrant County Water District has been around for ages. Built in 1924 as a subdivision of the state of Texas, the TRWD’s main concerns are water supply and flood control. The water supplied is untreated and raw surface water. The centers have been placed all around North Texas in eight different counties. The four primary customers of the TRWD are Arlington, Fort Worth, Mansfield, and Trinity River Authority. TRWD services more than seventy cities in eleven counties. In 2011, the number of people served was 1.8 million. In the same year the amount of gallons served to those by TRWD was 128.8 billion gallons of water. The population will be expected to double in the next 50 years. TRWD has 1.8 million customers to serve now. By 2060 the numbers will jump to 4.3 million. The careful planning in the past is why we have these resources today. Our current supplies are able to sustain our needs through 2030. Our conservation labors have made it possible to expand our resources past our beliefs. The Richland- Chambers Wetlands is enduring a new development. It will be increased to a 63,000 acre-feet by 2013. There are many other approaches to be sure we have the means to supply our fast growing communities. By using water conservation we are keeping the least expensive source. This way we are accessing something we already have. This will give us the opportunity to keep costly projects at bay until necessary. There were pipeline projects that were to take place, and the pipeline itself was put on hold due to water conservation. The estimated cost of 2.3 billion was brought down to 1.2 billion on account of our conservation
