Tanglewood Case 1 May 23rd Tanglewood Case 1 As an external consultant for Staffing Services I have reviewed your Organizational Structure as it pertains to staffing your new stores and your stores that are already in business. In my report you will find that there are many things that I agree that your organization does, however there are some that I feel that you could change to benefit your strategic staffing levels and quality. Acquire or Develop Talent I feel that Tanglewood should develop talent from within. A pure acquisition staffing strategy would have Tanglewood starting from square one. The cost of completely re-staffing new employees would be tremendous. Although there may need to be some tweaking in the way that the management staff is allowed to run their respective departments, I feel that they have a solid base of pride working for Tanglewood. With the right training I feel it is beneficial for the company to develop the core talent that they have and fill in the gaps with new hires. Hire Yourself or Outsource Once again I feel that Tanglewood should stay “in house” when it comes to who is going to do the hiring. The first reason I say this is because that is what the managers and assistant managers are getting paid to do. They are employed to make sure that they put the best people in the right positions to make the company succeed. The second reason that I feel that they should do the hiring themselves if because they should have a good idea if an employee will be a good fit for the company or not by going through the interview process themselves. An outside agency may get paid on the “per body” that they hire for Tanglewood. If that is the case then they may just want to put a warm body in that spot so that they will reap the benefit.
