It’s important that we make sure the video games that our families play are also appropriate. When it comes to TV programming you think it is fine because it’s on national TV. The reality is TV is as bad as the internet and videogames and we should be careful what we watch with our families. Programs like 24 hours, ABC’s Lost, ABC’s Alias, and NBC’s Law & Order do influence the viewers, whether they realize it or not. These programs are not entertainment.
Children's television viewing should be limited to less than 2 hours a day in order to avoid too many negative effects. Violence is something that is hard for children to avoid on television today. Children are at risk of viewing this violence because they are watching more than the suggested amount of television. When children see this violence, they think it is cool and fun, so they want to try it out. They are taught that the images of violence are amusing.
Most people don’t understand how negative excessively watching TV can be. The public should know the consequences of allowing themselves and their children of watching too much television. The first reason why people shouldn’t watch too much television is because the content of many TV programs are not educational. These things can badly disturb the process of mental development, making children less sensitive and more aggressive.
In this essay I wish to argue my two contradicting views. To further expand my first view on this topic let’s take movies as examples. Movies shown in the world usually don't have content that can be suitable to children. Certain laws have been put in place to censor inappropriate material. For instance, a sexual intercourse scene would definitely be censored in a movie.

I generally feel we are all connected considering something, somewhere and somehow it will affect us, either good or bad and the word would be spread through the power of the television. In this day and age, television has become negative in some aspects towards violence, drugs and sex, un-educational shows and people’s mental development. In 1908 television was created to inform nearby citizens and countries on what was going on in the world globally and other important matters but now, it is use for such useless reasons. Child development experts caution that smaller children (aged two and up) be allowed no more than two hours of television per day. Children younger than two years old, they say, should be allowed no television at all. Some studies point to increased language development among children with access to television, however.
Through the use of television, many different audiences can be reached, and news and other information can be transmitted to them. According to Richard Rhodes in his essay “Hollow Claims about Fantasy Violence,” he argues that there is no link between exposure to media violence and the development of violent behavior.
Through research, it is proven that some reality television programs are not worth watching, that is if the viewer believes in good morals, values, and ethics. Reality television is one the main sources of the negative impact on television today and has become overrated and portrays very negative influences. One way that reality TV negatively impacts society is that it has desensitized society to the violence they are watching.
