I began to feel more comfortable knowing, I wasn’t the only one that was nervous. As my group of friends expanded at sign ups, and the first few practices, my self confidence grew. This is not true, athletes have to work significant hours just to stay in their professional league, let alone be a star. A great deal of practicing, working out, rehabbing, and watching game film goes in every day to prepare for the next opponent. Every week, they practice and play a notable amount of hours, most notably on the weekends, when most people don’t have to work. There is a huge amount of pressure on players to win every game, especially in cities like New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Dallas, and other notorious sports cities. This pressure is raised even higher for rookies, who were stars in college, and also for superstars.
Perhaps no other jobs than coaching has the absence of African Americans been more noticeable. Over the past two decade there has been little to no improvement in the area. While the National Football League, the National Basketball League, and even College Basketball have all seen dramatic improvement over the past 20 years, college football is still dragging their feet behind. College football is an important sport in our nation, from fans, college and high school athletes, recruiters, and even the president of the United States. This game gives younger athletes something to strive for and it even encourages them to attend college with the prospect of playing college football.
He was my grade seven football coach. I will always remember his patince, and how he somehow read my mind when I was having a bad day. Not only was he a fantastic person, but a remarkable football coach who I have learned a great deal from. Michael is a star player on the field and Leigh Ann is very determined to get him the NCAA Division I scholarship, but he needs a 2.5 GPA in order to receive it.
