The Importance of Comprehensive Sex-Education in Schools Sex is huge, sex is important; everyone cares and has something to say about sex. Sex oozes from every pore of the culture and no kid can avoid it. Are teens getting enough knowledge on sex and how to prevent teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases,(STD’s)? Comprehensive sex-education promotes abstinence but it also includes information about contraceptives and STD’s, while promoting safe sex if a student chooses to engage in sexual activity before marriage. Me, personally, my parents did not give me the birds and the bees talk, but I was afforded the opportunity to take sex-education in high school.
Criticizing people for being too passive in their convictions is not an uncommon complaint in this day and age, especially of young people. In fact, common disparagements of youth mirror Postman’s description of Brave New World almost perfectly. Postman writes of Huxley’s vision, “People will come to adore the technologies that undo their capacities to think,” just as adults often say their children would rather text than have a real conversation, or go on Facebook than read a book. Tim Winton’s novel – Lockie Leonard is a suitable book for teens because all the readers who have or are going through puberty, body changes and that kind of stuff. Though many people may dismiss 1984 by George Orwell to be offensive, it is necessary to read because it challenges the reader to question authority. 1984 offers an important opportunity for young men and women to acquire who they are going to be when they grow up. The ability to question authority is often overlooked in today’s society. From the time we were able to crawl and speak, we are ruled by some set of rules that prevent us from synthesizing our own thoughts and actions. It is those who decide to question authority that rise above the majority of people and proceed to greater things.
When I started my placements I was daunted by the prospect of having to contain clients with either avoidant, ambivalent or disorganised affects. Despite that and with time, I found it possible through practice and theory to improve my awareness of my process. Unfortunately the short term model does barely enable scratching the surface in this respect, I am intrigued with clients who say that they had a good childhood but they would be unable to articulate what that meant to them. Some clients are more psychologically minded than others, and six or twelve sessions is relatively a short time to enable this exploration after building a good working relationship. For example it might be helpful to be a nurturing parent, who is responsive and reliable, and work to create the space for a cooperative relationship.

However, when parents affirm the values of their children, young people often develop positive, healthy attitudes about themselves, therefore delaying in sexual activity. I chose these articles because I am a teen parent, and I feel that if I had been able to have “the talk” sooner, more in depth, and more often, that it may have prevented my pregnancy. We need an option, and being optimistic may give us false promises or facades to see one thing and create inability to be resilient with the other available options. Being realistic is also applicable in our relationships. When relating to people, we can always see good things within our friends, yet similar to all things, humans are not perfect. The realistic outlook can help us understand human imperfection and not overestimate the relationship so that it can’t let us as down as not being able to move on at all. There are cases where our loved ones pass away or they are far away from us.
