I always used to feel some misgivings about rereading books. I unconsciously lumped reading together with work like carpentry, where having to do something again is a sign you did it wrong the first time. Whereas now the phrase "already read" seems almost ill-formed. Intriguingly, this implication isn't limited to books. Technology will increasingly make it possible to relive our experiences.
I enjoyed this course because it helped me to identify several races. I think that this type of course needs to be taught the younger generation in grammar ages. The students are taught how to read and write, calculate mathematical equations and learn about our history. However, not much is taught in the form of teaching them about equality and to destroy prejudicial indifferences. This type of course, should also continue in junior high as well as high school.
She responded that she uses a book for extra support in teaching a concept; also it is a good resource for maps and diagrams. Another focus was, does the textbook adequately addresses all of the state standards. Her answer was no, because there are gaps that must be filled using other resources. Mrs. Hancock was ask to elaborate on other resource she uses to teach social studies. She listed some of the following; primary source documents, literature (fiction), research on computer, streamline videos and social studies newspapers.
Reading this will better help them connect their history lessons to real life. That is why I believe this book should be taught alongside history lessons pertaining to that point in time. Having this book read in an English class while learning facts about the Dust Bowl in History class will form connections better than just one or the
When I came across anything I thought was relevant in the textbooks I stuck post-it notes around my desk stating briefly what it was and where I found it. Deciding which points to use in my essay was difficult and did result in a considerable amount of deleting and re entering information. Using the textbook I found ir easier to read the conclusion at the end of the chapter first, followed by the summaries at the end of each unit and leaving the beginning til last. This gives me a better understanding of what concepts im covering. I am still finding the referencing process quite difficult but I am hoping this will get easier as the course
A. Strategy # 3 : Visualize success My specific actions: When I visualize success, I will be able to encourage myself. Then my brain won’t be full of thoughts I can collect my thoughts and solve the problem, or answer the question. B. Strategy # 6 : Write memory cues on the test My specific actions: In my math class I will write equations and words that will cue information that is triggered by the cue.
Prejudice was a good topic to talk about and to be recognized, and Battle Royal fit the toll perfectly. I had the idea of prejudice, but I was able to elaborate on it more with the help of my classmates and professor. I would also like to acknowledge and thank my friend Christopher Martin for reading over my paper and giving helpful insights. I always find that a peer knows how to understand what one is trying to say or help to make sense of it. He offered a lot of help and was willing to make notes on my paper to attempt at helping me make my paper the best it could possibly be.
I was able to learn this standard because Ms. Kelleher gave us handouts about what we needed to know about imagery and symbolism. Also we had lectures about how authors use imagery and symbolism and what they are. Another way I learned some of the standard was by having to write rough drafts and essays using the strategies. I plan on improving on the standard by asking more questions about how to do things. Also I would read over handouts more effectively to study so that I have a better understanding.
Since the way I approach my research it helps cover a lot of ground in limited amount of time giving me time to focus on other issues in my life like work and my kids. I am also able to do multiple assignments in a short amount of time so that I can finish them on time, hand them in and receive a good grade on the assignment. The way COMM 150 has affected the way I think about academic integrity and giving the proper credit to the ideas of others is that those people are helping me by publishing their work, so they deserve the credit for doing the hard labor that I did not have to do. What I mean by that is if I put in the time and hard work to put together something and someone else used my work and did not acknowledge me as being a help source I would get frustrated and upset. So I have no problem giving credit to where credit is due.
My dad has gotten me a tutor. I have learned many things about my weaknesses for reading. My tutor has taught me that in order to get better on reading passages on the sat section is by taking a lot of reading passages tests. I should also annotate the passages as I read. Furthermore, I should also learn how to read fast and annotate as I read in order to do better on the sat’s.
