A learning disability affects the way a person learns new things in any areas of life. It affects the way they understand information and how they communicate. A learning disability means that it is harder for a child to learn, understand and communicate than it is for other children. A learning disability can be mild, moderate or severe. Some people with a mild learning disability can talk easily and look after themselves, but take a little longer than usual to learn new skills.

There are some major problems with using them. Students with high I.Q’s are expected to do better than the rest of their class, and on the flip side students with low I.Q.’s are expected to do worse. That is not always fair because students with low I.Q.’s might not get the attention needed simply because their teachers do not expect much from them. In the end there is no fairness to some. This leads to an ethical question of, is giving an intelligence test ethical?
In other cases, like Carr said, it does make people lazy. Instead of searching for something and reading the entire context of something to learn it, people will just look up the answer. Yes, knowing the answer is good, but knowing how to get the answer or how to get to it is almost as important. In Dewey's essay, his topic is, "Is school making us smart?". In my opinion, school itself doesn't make us smart, but it does give you the opportunity to become more knowledgable.

Therefore you would need to try and make it more engaging and stimulating, perhaps by making it more difficult or time-consuming so the students really have to work to complete it. If the activities are taking longer than expected and you can see that the children are struggling, things again would need to be addressed and changed. Without evaluation the learning activities things would never change and learning would become incredibility boring. We all need to reflect on learning to make improvements for a better learning environment for children and young adults.
On the other hand, sometimes I would rather learning on my own. A good and experienced teacher can help me learn faster and easier. Sometimes when learning a course by myself which is hard and confusing to understand and has few sources available, I get discouraged after spending a lot of time. In this situation, I’ll look for a teacher and request for help from him or her. And then he or she will teach me the course efficiently in a short time and therefore I will learn faster and better and won’t get discouraged and confused.
As students get older, the amount of work they receive gets larger. More of a workload, means the less time, which usually leads to stress and cramming. In a recent study done by a Stanford researcher, 56 percent of the students considered homework as a primary source of stress and continued by saying 43 percent reported their primary source of stress was cramming for tests and 33 percent saying that their stress was caused by maintaining good grades in particular subjects. They found that less than 1 percent of students said homework was not their main source of stress. Learning about new things should be enjoyable when instead, it is doing the exact opposite and making children stress over it and hate the idea of it.
For example, teachers should shine light on how studying algebra actually develops stronger problem solving skills and leads students into a deeper level of thinking. If students were to see that even if they do not solve specific algebraic equations in their lives outside of algebra class, the skills that are gained by thinking on a higher level will allow them to be successful on many different levels. In today’s technology driven society relating the content to the students grows increasingly more difficult. Students in the modern classroom communicate and “operate within what they came to call “mulitiliteracies””, meaning students speak in a way that is used in computer and text message language (Ryan 192). Even in the young grades, teachers need to relate the content in which they are teaching in every way possible.
