In his final year of peewee hockey he scored an improbable 378 goals. By the time Wayne was a teenager he was making waves across Canada with his play. At the age of 15 he started playing for the Peterborough Pete’s of the Ontario Hockey Association, where his dominance continued. Wayne’s future status as an NHL star was furthered at the 1978 World Junior Championships in Quebec City, where Wayne played for his home country and led the entire tournament in scoring. A team formed of college kids represented the U.S. at the 1980 Olympics. They seemingly did not stand a chance against the Soviet team. Led by their ambitious coach, Herb Brooks, the team was able to overcome a 3-2 deficit in the third period and they defeated their Cold War rivals. Mike Eruzione scored the winning goal. He never played in an NHL game before, which makes the victory even more miraculous.
This gave Boston their first Stanley Cup win since 1941 and it was at this moment where he got the nickname “Magic Number 4”. The famous diving goal that Bobby Orr, number 4, scored came off a giveand-go pass with teammate Derek Sanderson and was the fourth goal of the game, during the fourth period (overtime) of the fourth game of the 1970 Stanley Cup playoffs. As he made the shot he was tripped by number 4 Noel Picard of the St. Louis Blues. This moment was captured in a photograph taken by Ray Lussier of Orr flying through the air with his arms raised in victory. On May 11, 2010, a bronze statue depicting this famous scene was unveiled outside the Boston arena, in honour of Orr and all of his contributions to the NHL and the sport of hockey.

They have qualified for four Stanley Cup Finals, winning the Stanley Cup three times in their history in 1991, 1992, and 2009.

Terry Stanley Fox, born July 28th 1958, in Winnipeg Manitoba and raised in Port Coquitlam British Columbia. 1977 Terry Fox was a young athletic kinesiology student at Simon Fraser University. After having bad pain in his right knee , he decided it was time to go to the doctor so , Terry was 19 years old and he was diagonsed with osteosarcoma, a malignant type of bone cancer. The night before his surgery , Terry read a story of an amputee who ran in the New York Marathon.
