Taylor Swift has her golden hair pin back off her face. The natural sunlight is beaming from behind her though her arm and shoulders. At the top of the advertisement, Covergirl is displayed in olive green letters. At the bottom of the ad they put the text in black and green explaining the mascara value. The texts tell us fashionable women what the mascara does to eyelashes.
The room was pretty messy, not saying mine is any better, but judging on the clothes on the floor I could not only tell that it was a female I could also tell that her room was more of a place to sleep and keep her stuff instead of have tons of people over. I found dresses, skirts, heels and other female shoes which made it obvious that a girl did reside in the room. On her wall she had tons of photographs of her different friends and her family which allowed me to assume that she has some form of relationship with her parents as well as many friends. Also, there was a picture of her with a dog which backed up my first assumption that they enjoyed animals. My next discovery was a mounted photograph hanging on her wall signed by her.
In paragraph 70, line7, “She can have them, Mama,”...” I can ’member Grandma Dee without the quilts.” After read what Maggie said, suddenly I got the same feeling with Mama (Mrs. Johnson), in paragraph 75, line 7- When I looked at her like that something hit me in the top of my head and ran down to the soles of my feet… I did something I never had done before: hugged Maggie to me, then dragged her on into the room, snatched the quilts out of Miss Wangro’s hands and dumped them into Maggie’s lap. Mama perfectly sure that the quilts should give to Maggie; the most precious heritage should be given to someone who understand it and love it truthfully. This article has 4 characters; each of them has different personality. Mama (Mrs. Johnson) - the narrator of the story. She is not a pretty woman, in paragraph 5, first line “In real life I am a large, big-boned woman with rough, man-working hands.
Instead they show praise towards her and her whiteness by buying white baby dolls, even for black girls. “The big, the special, the loving gift was always a big, blue-eyed Baby Doll….all the world had agreed that a blue-eyed, yellow-haired, pink-skinned doll was what every girl child treasured.” Not only do the girls of this novel learn that whiteness is superior through the white baby dolls and the idealization of Shirley temple but adult women too have learned to despise their own color and learn as they grow that whiteness is the desired color. Whiteness is considered the cleaner color. When Pecola spills berries all over the clean white ladies house this
Hair styles went for a softer look with flowing curls. Going to a movie to watch the glamorous actresses was a temporary relief from the times. The look was feminine and soft. Thin eyebrows opened the eye. Emphasis was on the upper eyeliner and big defined lashes as we see in the photo of Mae West and here with Ginger Rogers.

What exactly makes it good? In the movie titled “Good Hair” comedian Chris Rock, determines what “good hair” is identified as hair that has similar properties to stereotypical White hair, like hair that is strait, hair that can have a brush or comb run through it without it getting stuck. Through out the documentary there was strong bias opinions. Most of the women in the film were African American expressing how not having so called “good hair” effected how the world saw them. One characteristic I notice was women who wore a more natural hairstyle had a strong sense of racial pride and self awareness.
Tan likes to show Lindo through indirect characterization. Lindo would always try to make things right. She would be polite to her new mother in law and when she was with her mother in law she would hold out a treat and say “ For you, Mother” (53). Even though Huang Taitai was not her real mother, Lindo would act as though she was, but before Lindo did this she would turn to her mother and ask for forgivness. This shows that she is a caring girl and she will always try to behave and be nice to every one.
It is easy for women to conform to an idea when it is supposed to be a dream come true—everything they could ever want. An instance of discourse like this near the beginning of the text is “[women] learned that truly feminine women do not want careers, higher education, political rights…All they had to do was devote their lives from girlhood to finding a husband and bearing children.” (Friedman 270) This exemplifies the way that femininity is instilled into young women, and the one-track minds that result from it. When experts, teachers, parents and peers alike define the expectations of a woman, it is be difficult for females to imagine their femininity as anything aside from the
Spencer also hoped that whenever she was feeling particularily anxious, she would wrap herself more tightly in the cloak and remember their time in the town where she was calm. While in the mean time, Celestia went to her Othra and spoke to her about Solanum Academe. Her Ortha, Ilda, was afraid for Celestia at first but then when she realized how much Celestia had grown as a person with her two years with Spencer, Ilda tearfully agreed. Following this, Celestia went to her peers and said some of the first words they ever heard her say: thank you. She left the abbey and began walking her path for the last time.
