Slaves were permitted to dance, sing, and play drums on Sundays. Congo Square is where African cultures in music were blended with European cultures. This place is prominent in the history of jazz music because Congo Square is where slaves had some sort of freedom to express themselves musically which had great influence on the genre of jazz. Many great musicians emerged to show their individual talents in this particular style of music. A
This song was definitely arranged however they had their own improvisations. The song was very upbeat and I was immediately focusing all my attention on the band. Gordon Jones, on alto sax, performed a solo in the middle of the song that was unbelievable. DJ Williams also soloed, and demonstrated his skills as a guitarist with a great rhythm. After the first song, I was amazed.
Armstrong developed the idea of musicians playing during breaks that expanded into musicians playing individual solos. This became the norm. People would come from far and near to hear Armstrong play. No matter what the rest of the band was doing people waited restless in their seats to hear Armstrong bless them with a solo. Whenever he would play the room would go crazy standing ovation all throughout his solo.

So as the performance began and the choir, which I might add was
Sonny was getting better. He was on the verge of releasing his very own jazz music record, recorded by him and his friends. All I could think about was the words that Sonny’s childhood friend had once told me “Sonny had such a death wish; "He don't want to die. He wants to live. Don't nobody want to die, ever”.

The style of Bebop jazz is characterized by its fast tempos, instrumental brilliance and improvisation that’s based on a combination of harmonic organization and melody. The bebop style of jazz began at the beginning of World War two and right after the end of the swing jazz era. The music of the swing era was popular from the 1930’s to around the beginning of World War two when most of the Jazz musicians went off to fight in the war.

Every time people talk about Cuban music comes to our mind salsa, rumba, and folklore. Having the pleasure of listening to Brazilian instruments, jazz and all these ancestral instruments mixed with the traditional Cuban beat make me be proud of how talented is this band and how creative of giving a completely new impression of Cuban
