Language Department Language Arts Lies we don’t want to know Once in our lives we have heard our parents or a teacher telling us lying is bad, that no matter what, the truth is always the answer, but in reality telling the truth can hurt as much as lying, people get affected by it. We as a society always brag about how important telling the truth is, when in fact we are not ready to hear it. According to the dictionary the meaning of ‘Truth’ is the true facts about something, rather than the things that have been invented or guessed, and of course it’s better to tell the truth than lying, but the truth can hurt as much as telling a lie and we are not ready to hear it if we react in a bad way. In the story ‘like the sun’ we see a man only saying the truth for a day, and instead of getting nice treats for doing the right thing, he gets bad consequences. Sekhar’s boss asks him to come to his house with him and tell him his truthful opinion on his singing, telling him that he can have 10 days to check the tests, but in that moment he needed to focus on his music “Well, you must listen with a free mind.
Although, she does admit even she was shocked when listening to the speech, as she explains “the line was not believable”. From this I can conclude that source one doesn’t wholly hold Churchill responsible for the 1945 election defeat, however the reliability of the source is questionable as it is bias towards the conservative party. Source two, an extract from Lord Butler’s memoirs, clearly shows opposition to not only Churchill but also the conservative party, Lord Butler for example describes Churchill’s speech as a “negative attack on the labour party” and believed that he should have instead focused on “post-war policies”. By describing Churchill’s use of the word “Gestapo” as a “strategic blunder” shows that Butler is blaming Churchill in having played a role in the defeat of the 1945 election. Although both members of the conservative party, Butler and Churchill were political enemies, this is evident when looking at the extract: “a poor third place to the concentrated exploitation of Churchill’s personality” – this is a personal attack on Churchill’s actions.
The British blockade kept all trades away from the Germans, including food (Ghost Liners 124).Yet, when the Germans retaliate, the Americans hate them for it. The Germans received blame for a crime that followed the rules of war blockades. America shames the Germans for killing civilians warned of the possible danger. Finally, the Lusitania allowed for the British to win in a win-win situation that their government
Whether Dimmesdale decided to reveal his deep dark hidden secret or not, merely has no significance. As Puritan Society stated, women were more prone to be sinners; the envisioned picture of me was already painted as the corrupter. Is that moral? Would God find this acceptable because the Puritan Society apparently does. If Dimmesdale had came forth, it might have saved him from the mental and physical deterioration but would the Puritan Society had honestly punished him the way I had been?
The importance of not lying in society. There are many reasons why a soldier should not lie in the army. First I will go over the moral implications of lying. First and foremost any one person should not lie because it is wrong just plain wrong. For instance if you were to lie to a family member or a friend about something as menial as saying you have taken out the trash and you didn’t or failed to do it correctly you are deceiving your family member or friend.
The FBI and The Bureau of Tobacco and Fire Arms failed to recognize the nature of millenarian beliefs because David Koresh viewed his delusions as reality of life. I think that the government didn’t think the beliefs are real because the beliefs were bizarre. Also, another reason the government didn’t take the Davidians serious because they were in cult. The ATF contributed that this event was a lot of troubles that caused a lot of people to die for a good purpose. Likewise in the First Amendment people want the government to take religious beliefs very serious in order to not cause another epidemic from happening
We lie to people we think would misuse the truth in unfair or dangerous ways. Keeping the truth secret or deceiving people is only effective when those people believe we are providing them with the truth. Lies only work if we lie infrequently enough, to be believed and relied on when we do lie. Honesty is about keeping promises to tell the truth. Accepting our promise to tell the truth puts someone is a relationship with us.
The Nisei was one of the generations that experienced Internment camps more. On the other hand the public had different opinions. They thought that everything the government was right in everything like for example he told them that they were spys the public would believe them. Fear was another important thing that the civilians and public felt because they were scared of being invaded and another secret attack. People didn’t know what to expect or what to
Catholics Helping Jews During the Holocaust in the 1930s to the 1940s, Jews were struggling to find help and refuge. Throughout Germany, it was extremely risky to voice an opinion against Hitler or even against the Nazis. The fear and danger of helping others during this time wasn’t going to stop Catholics from lending a hand and being entirely selfless. Catholics would bring Jews into their churches and proving them with a hiding place, food, and shelter when no one else would. Pope Pius XII was one of the first Catholics to secretly help Jews escape the fear in Germany.
97 If Jonas were able to get a family, he would have to hide things from them. Some people might say this, “Very frightening. I can’t even imagine it. We really have to protect people from wrong choices.” pg. 93 Hisjob was to hold memories to protect the people from choosing wrong, but it stops him from living like the others do.
