During this support group session, Hazel can’t help to notice Augustus staring at her. Augustus states he had cancer but no longer has it, but his cancer took his leg with it. Therapeutic Communication Scenario’s Nonverbal communication is a key technique in many therapeutic relationship situations (CNO, 2009). In the movie, Marley and Me (2008), there were several scenes that enhanced the importance of this communication style. One scenario that particularly emphasized nonverbal communication was demonstrated after Jenny received the news that she had just miscarried their first-to-be child. After returning home from the doctor’s office and trying to comprehend the news she had just been told, Jenny sat down on the couch, demonstrating pure shock and devastation to the audience

I would like to believe that, like beauty, deviance is in the eye of the beholder. In chapter 13 of Think Sociology by Carl, deviance is described as taking four specific characteristics. One of which is that deviance is linked to time, this I particularly enjoy. The idea that deviance has an expiration date is both delightful and relatively infuriating. After all, just a mere 100 years ago a witch-hunt might have ignited on behalf of my pants wearing, long curly red hair flowing, herbal remedying, single female-ness.
For example, Mitchel brought Cam breakfast in bed because it was mothers’ day. I believe I saw depicted also here was “complimentary”, a as described by Nichols page 99 in how Cam was always taking offense into being viewed as the female in the relationship, and Mitchell was constantly trying to convince him otherwise thus remaining in a family homeostasis. Then we see how the concept of “triangles” in which a third party member, in this case the friends are at a gathering; moms and children were asked to take pictures and Cam tries to escape. Social Constructivism, page 95, is seen when eventually Cam did get chosen to be the “mom” to take the group picture and was even given a bouquet of flowers. Again Mitchell tries to protect Cam as he tries to explain that people are just not ready to interact with gay couples without being offensive thereby, continuing the pattern of “family homeostasis page

Wrong Reflection – (tumblr) Monday, February 21st I have been looking at magazines, watching commercials and TV shows that demonstrate how teenage girls are being put under pressure to look a certain way. An interesting example that I found was the incredibly popular reality TV show “Janice Dickinson: Modeling Agency.” This show has gained the attention of many viewers and has turned into the obsession of many girls who watch it devotedly every week. The once super model Janice Dickinson created a modeling agency where girls and guys are accepted based on
