Summary In “Giuliani Vows to Cut Subsidy over ‘Sick’ Art,” Barry and Vogel discuss Rudolph Giuliani’s opposition to a pending exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. It is talking about an art exhibit set to open in a week in the Brooklyn Museum of Art. The problem with this exhibit is that it is generally referred to as “sick” and “gross” not only by the people of New York, but also churches, animal rights groups and even Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. Rudolph Giuliani is so offended by the exhibit that he is trying to take all government funding away from the museum unless they terminate an exhibit that is supposed to open next week. The mayor was offended by most of the catalogue which includes dead animals, a human statue made of blood, and, the one he found most offensive, the Virgin Mary depicted using a piece of elephant manure on a cloth.

This is a vicious cycle and one reason why this epidemic became a pandemic so quickly.

In society murder is not normal and you are insane if you do so. If society said it was good to kill other people then it would be insane if you didn’t. It’s all senses of what more people think is better. The society in this movie asks all people to conform to the same standards and behaviours. When McMurphy discovers that many of the patients are in the hospital because they don’t have the courage to get out into the real world he gets upset but also embarrassed because it is evident that Nurse Ratched’s therapy and methods to help the men are designed to undermine the little confidence they do have, not encourage it.
Some doctors even thought that bad odors would get rid of the disease so they smeared feces and urine on their patients, which produced the opposite effect, and spread the disease. Since people lived in crowded cities due to famine in the years leading to the outbreak, they were exposed to the disease and it spread quickly among them. Fleas could travel from victim to victim easily in such close proximity. The disease is also known as the bubonic plague because it caused swelling and black sores on the body known as buboes. Interestingly, this is where we get the word for injury known as “boo boo”.

Brooks explores how the plague acts as a catalyst effecting each of the villagers differently on a physical and emotional level. The plague is defined as a large amount of insects or animals infesting a place causing damage, within the novel we see the villagers become these animals.
