Specifically, Durkheim’s theory will be looked at under the microscope, as it applies to the “Buffalo Creek Disaster.” The specific levels of social integration will be examined as they relate to this disaster, and the events that make it up both during and after the immediate tragedy. Through examining the events of The Buffalo Creek Flood, social integration and social regulation will prove to relate differently to the outcomes of the event, especially in individual circumstances. Durkheim’s studies, not just those on social integration and regulation, but also those on lives in general, support balance. Durkheim’s vast view of society and both the individualistic and collective roles that are shared by a people explain his later views on detachment (Durkheim, 250). One of the principles of Durkheimian thought is that of social integration: achieved by the combining of multiples individual roles in one society.
Emergency Disaster Plan Julieann Dooley American Sentinel University Emergency Disaster Plan The purpose of this paper is to assess the community for potential disasters that could result in mass casualties, including what disasters are predictable, and what if any measures can be taken to prevent or minimize injuries, death, or destruction. It will also discuss who is responsible for disaster management in the community, what plans are in place for warning people and for communicating which actions to take in the event of a disaster, and if the people are aware of these plans. It will also talk about what social and cultural factors need to be considered in disaster planning in the community, if there are vulnerable populations with special needs, and if an evacuation of the community is mandated what are the plans for the evacuation of these groups. Lastly it will discuss what emergency supplies the health care facility has available in the event of a disaster, what provisions have been made available for vulnerable patients in the event the power goes out, and how would patients be evacuated from the facility to safe shelters. Community Assessment Tulare County is a small rural area in central California, mostly comprised of farms and dairies.

(FEMA) Federal Emergency Management Agency The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) gives homeowners and organizations the opportunity to build in areas that otherwise would possibly be too high of a risk for the individual to take on without government assistance. With this being a taxpayer - supported program, people who choose to live in these areas are causing homeowners, who know better, money and grief. The Federal Emergency Management Agency also coordinates the federal governments’ role in preparing for, preventing, mitigation the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
