Memoir One hot summer evening in the forest preserve, me, my brother a about 8 others decided we want to have an air soft battle. Air soft are pumped guns, shooting these small pellets that travel at high speeds, and it definitely hurts. We got into groups of 5. One team was in red and another in blue. It was a dark night with heavy clouds coming in. Each team took a side f the forest. Everyone was ready for this battle, we had extra ammo, goggles, face paint. It felt like war, a very intense feeling. I was on the red team. I had an M4 Carbine, which is an automatic assult rifle that’s very accurate. I was considered one of the best of the group. As each team was posted up, it began to rain, and everyone said, “Oh it’s on!”…show more content…
My team was winning. As my teammates start to run back, I hear a sniper shot and I hear one of my teammates yell “Hit!” and I’m thinking, that must of hurt, because snipers are the most powerful gun because of the distance the pellet needs to travel. So it’s 4 on 4 now. It’s still dead silent. People are crawling around. I personally, choose to crawl everywhere I go. I don’t want to risk being shot. I heard this sudden movement to my left and lied as still as possible. I see my teammate straight ahead of me, and he points to the guy around me. In my head, I’m counting down from 5, as I get to 1, I pop right up and light this guy up. And I yell “tango down”. As I reload, I hear sudden M9 shots in the distance (M9 is a handgun with a very distinctive, low pitch clap sound). No one spotted it so we all lied still, because we wouldn’t want to chase after it and risk getting shot. So I try to creep closer and as I do, my teammate yells “Sniper 2 o’clock!” and as I look, all I hear is this ringing in my ear. I become still, and my teammate knew something was wrong. So he ran torwards me, shouting out “time out! Time out!” In my head, I was thinking what just happened?… I was laying on my back in the soaking…show more content…
I have absolutely no feeling on the right side of my face. Everyone crowded around me were just questioning what to do. So I tried to get up with my friends helping me out, but I couldn’t even stand straight. So my brother decided that he was going to take me to the hospital. When I got in the car, I looked in the mirror and noticed my eye was gushing blood and the size of a ping-pong ball. I started to freak out, and my brother was trying his best to calm me down. As we got to the E.R. they saw my eye and rushed me in. I remember not being able to see out of my right eye. After that I don’t really remember what happened, but as I woke up, I was in the hospital wondering, what happened. The doctor came in and explained everything and told me, I had a pellet lodged in my eye and almost lost my vision in my right eye. At that moment I was terrified and asked the doctor if I’m going to be all good. My eye was patched up, and the doctor said, “ Well let’s see”. As he took of that bandage, my vision was terribly blurry and my eyes were sensitive to the light, but my eye didn’t come into full focus and I told the doctor my eye site is kind of blurry. So the doctor knew
