INTRODUCTION: As we have been rapidly adopting onto an urban lifestyle, we have brought about many changes to fit into the ‘new way of life’, it is actually a commonplace occurrence in modern culture. For some, tight work schedules result in extended periods of wakefulness or a decrease in sleep over an extended period of time. Others tend to believe that sleeping is merely a waste of time and like to think that they can train their bodies to not require as much sleep as they once did. The rest, mostly the young generation, take this practice as sort of a ‘play time’, and stay up late regardless of any necessities. What ever reason be it, sleeping late is not at all good for health, in fact it only effects us physically and mentally, but it also alters our behavior. RESEARCH QUESTIONS: In my research what I am trying to put upfront is the different levels of negative effects that sleeping late brings upon us, physically and mentally. So I will be conducting my research in areas, as such: • Reasons for sleeping late? • The contrast in views on the issue, between different generations? • Physical effects of sleeping late? • Mental effects of sleeping late? • Medical effects of sleeping late? • Opinion of doctors? HYPOTHESIS: Many people try to fit their work into their tight schedules by squeezing in less time for going to bed totally unaware of what they are exactly putting themselves into. Sleeping late does not only kill our health but it also effects our behavior, thus effecting our social skills too. I believe that the practice of sleeping late is so casually continued as people are totally unaware of its negative effects. So I feel that if these adverse effects are put in front of them, they would be doing themselves a favor and discontinuing with it, or at least plan ways to avoid sleeping
