Finding witches seemed to become a crusade. It seemed to me as if they were out to slater women that stood out. There was an end to all this. When men started to stand up for their wives and daughters the Salem hysteria began to take a turn. The Salem witch trial and the role of a woman during this era were difficult.
A mixture of diverse events and factors assisted the commencement of the trials. There was a quantity of religious factors that contributed to the Salem witch trials. Among these factors is the guidance of the strict Puritan lifestyle along with the believed presence of the Devil in the community (Document 7). The Puritan way of life was subjective heavily by the church and Christian beliefs. Church was fundamentally the base of the Puritan society for the duration of this time period.

The format of the book is a narrative, with dialogue from actual trial records. The trial records are applied with a modern psychiatric knowledge, surrounding the witchcraft hysteria. Starkey recreates the sense of pity and terror that surrounded Salem and the suffering that many innocent people endured during the time. “The Devil in Massachusetts” presents an account of the accusers, accused, prosecutors and defenders surrounding the trials at Salem.
Kumail Hasan The story of The Scarlet Letter is about a very abhorrent sin that was conducted by two members of the Puritan Society in Boston, Reverend Dimmesdale and Hester Prynne. Though those characters play a large role in the story, the characters of Hester Prynne and Roger Chillingworth have a history together from the past. The couple is married but yet contains two different personalities that are visible throughout the story. The scarlet letter, the sin, and a variety of factors lead the lives of both the characters and easily display the characters true faces. The author, Nathaniel Hawthorne, uses a variety of rhetorical strategies to display his attitude toward these two characters.
The European Witch Craze started roughly during conclusion of the 15th century and peaked during the first half of the seventeenth century. When it came down to it women were accused as being witches in Salem more than men and a lot of women confessed. Maybe women were being accused because of the Puritans attitudes towards women, sin, and the devil. There could be many reasons why women were accused of being witches than men. It could have been their appearance, the time, or the gender roles.
The Crucible The Crucible, is a play, written by Arthur Miller. It takes place in Salem, Massachusetts, during the Salem witch trials. The play follows the people living in Salem and how they react during the turbulent time of the witch trials. The Crucible, undoubtedly written as an allegory to McCarthyism, still has pertinence in modern situations. In The Crucible many different groups are represented by the characters.
The belief in witches existed for centuries before the trials at Salem. Over time, a considerable body of folklore developed about how to identify witches. A contemporary writer explains the most popular methods. Perhaps the reason witch-hunting has gotten a bad name is that some practitioners used rather crude methods to separate the guilty from the innocent. The notorious judges of the Holy Roman Empire, for example, simply applied thumbscrews until the unfortunate suspects confessed.
