Dashawn Brooks Day 1 Today has finally come. I have been saving silk that I have grown for a while now in preparation for my journey. For years now I have watched rich merchants traveling all over Asia and coming back with exotic spices, jewelry, metals, and supplies. Ever since my friend had returned I have been waiting to explore the world and return rich. I have been looking at maps and journals from other merchants and now I have finally chosen a route. My name is Sang and I live in the capital of China. I will set out and travel south into India where I will trade for spices then to Africa where I hope to acquire ivory and finally across the Mediterranean where I will trade silk for wine and then back home. Day 47 I am in the middle of the mountains and there isn’t much to do out here. It is very difficult traversing the rocky terrain. It is much colder in the mountains that I had anticipated and it just makes the journey seem much longer. I hope I can meet someone that I can talk to. On the route I can see and hear other travelers but I have not spoken to any of them yet. I was warned not to talk to too many people because there are many thieves and killers. I have heard many stories of people leaving for the Silk Road and never coming back Day 93 I took a lot longer than I had planned to get through the mountains. Food was scarce and I only met one person in the last 63 days. He was an interesting man we talked about our lives I told him about home and he told me about masulipatam, the city he was from and about his family. As the night went on we talked about more philosophical things such as our faith. I told him I wasn't sure what I believed in and he told me he was a zoroastrian. They believe that all people must do good things in their words, actions and thoughts in order to keep chaos away. I told him I liked the sound of that
