For the people who don’t interact with people well, college will give you the opportunity to enhance your communication skills for the real world. Now there are also people who decide not to go to college mainly because they can’t afford to go. With the economy today, it is extremely difficult to find a job and earn decent money without a college degree. Even though there are people out there who would like to go to college, it really makes things difficult without having some sort of job to cover your expenses. Another reason why people don’t go to college
Another problem was that even though there are anti-discrimination policies, a slight differential treatment towards minorities is still present. Employers expect and demand more input from minority groups and that is why people are hesitant to leave their workplace to cast a vote (Rivers, 2012). An outside source looks at voting from a different perspective. An interestingly opposing statistic is that minority groups with higher education and social status take the time to participate, as voting is very important to them. They want to take part in the choice of their government because it took so long and so much effort for them to receive the equal rights and abilities to enjoy democracy (Speel, 2010).
Although they may have the motivation and willingness to work hard, students often need practical help (161). Unfortunately, in this fast-paced society, there are consequences to dropping out of college (164). Leonhardt mentions how there are limited pay raises for those without college degrees (160). Also, not everyone has the opportunity to acquire a job that is usually only given to college graduates. Although non-graduates may live satisfying lives, many worry how long their prosperity will last (164).
It will help them understand the basics of financial planning as it is not common sense. This is true. Therefore financial literacy should be taught in high school because many students do not know enough about finances, which is why they tend to get into debt later in their life. Because of their lack of knowledge about finances they cannot save or plan their future retirement and they also tend to get in to money frauds and identity theft. Firstly, many students and adults do not know enough about managing their finances which is why they tend to get in to debt.
You get rushed and preoccupied, and you stop taking the perspective of the other person, precisely because the two of you are so close.” Being rushed and not going in depth in conversations and only making short statements is a key in miscommunication. “Communication is complex; it requires a number of skills and both ongoing learning and practice to improve our skills. Misunderstandings occur frequently, and they can cause problems in relationships.” (Sole, 2011). Having my husband not understand what I mean by such a short statement is something that I expect since he is my husband. Yet I would not expect someone that isn’t as close to me to immediately grasp what it is I am trying to get across.
If people could not read and write, they would not get jobs, or lose them, go on welfare or receive unemployment benefits. Some people who cannot read and do not have jobs may turn to crime and end up in jail. Even I have been in US about 3 years but I am still having many problems with speaking, reading and writing English. I think every language is very important and we should use them for good things. Learning new language is not an easy thing because if you want to learn that, you have to understand about their cultures too.
There are so many answers to this question (i.e. take on another job, Go to or go back to college, or seek public assistances etc.) all that is an excellent answer, but it is hard to do, especially if a single parent cannot be there for their kid(s) if they take on another job(s) they will spend all their time at work to support their kid(s); or some people cannot go to or back to college because their multiple job requires them to work long hours and if they seek help from the government it is so much they can do considering the economy crisis. That is why it is important to increase the minimum wages so they won’t sacrifice their time with time away from their family and could enroll in or go back to school/college to earn their GED or degree so they could have better paying job. With the increased of pay, low and middle classes don’t have to worry to make any sacrificing the essentials that they or their family need; According to Time for a Raise, “If the minimum wage was increased to a level at which families could sustain themselves, fewer people may end up needing government assistance for housing, food, or health care.
The idea of an immigration reform has been talked about for the past few years. Many think it’s a good idea and many not so much. Some believe that it will bring bad things for the economy, that it would bring plenty of competition for American born workers, and that many more immigrants would be influence to cross the border to get advantage of the reform. At the same time they don’t step into the shoes of those who don’t have some type of medical insurance, that aren’t capable of visiting their families because there is no easy way back into the country, they don’t think about the children who are separated from their illegal parents. Most of what they believe is wrong, economy would be pushed up, the reform will create many more jobs for people, and there will probably be some type of system to know how long someone has lived in this country.
The main ideas of “Talent is Overrated” is to help people have better look of talent and get to know and learn about deliberate practice. People who looking for this book are usually people who educated or people who seeking for success and finding way to practice rightly. In beginning of the book, Colvin said: “Many people not only fail to become outstandingly good at what they do, no matter how many years they spend doing it, they frequently don’t even get any better than they were when they started.” (3). After years of trained, yet these people still stuck in their current level and they need to find new ways to change it. “Talent is Overrated” is the best answer for them.
I've been to Beijing, Seoul, Shanghai, Bangkok, Taipei, Singapore and Hong Kong. I've enjoyed aspects of all of them, but I don't consider any of these places even half as interesting or livable as Tokyo. Jobs are fairly hard to find in Tokyo, if I have a degree, I might find work as an English teacher. But these jobs are harder to get as more qualified people are trying out for them. It will depend on how well educated I am.
