He does make a convincing case but he compares animal liberation with three other liberation movements. Singer tells us that animals do communicate with one another but since we do not speak the same language it is more difficult for us to understand and we cannot assume anything. “Other animals may communicate with each other, but not in the way we do.” (para. 13). He does convince me that there is an issue with us assuming things for the nonhumans because we do not know what they want.
This quote can not justify animal testing, because these products are tested on animals that sometimes will not show the same side affects as humans. This alone is a reason why we should end animal experimentation because it is pointless in the first
Slaughterhouses were gruesome and extremely unethical in their approach to materialize animals. It seems as if animals were no longer living beings but rather objects that humans can reproduce and manipulate. I believe that many people in our society are anthropocentric because a lot of them are not exposed to what the food industries really do. The general public is often occupied with the idea that everything should revolve around improving ourselves. But not a lot of people pay attention to what happens behind the scenes.
Animals do not have many rights, but one right they somewhat have is not to be abused or neglected. There are laws governing this. Even felony animal cruelty laws, but often this issue is overlooked. Why this issue is overlooked, no one will ever know. III.
Sometimes dogs bring fear to a person and that is unhealthy for the workplace. Second, I don’t think that dogs should be allowed in the workplace because any little thing could go wrong, dogs may not usually be around a
Page 1 of 2 Solution to Puppy Mills…… It would be very difficult to outlaw puppy mills. It would very expensive to enforce as well. It would take people willing to donate their time and money to the cause. It would either end up with more small, back yard breeders or the animals constantly being moved like “Black Market” to avoid the location being located and/or owners fined. It may end up hurting the responsible breeders out there and not affecting the desperate ones as the reputable ones don't profit much at all.
Opposition Arguments to Different Narrowed Positions 1. Not everyone should have to be a vegetarian for the fact that animals can feel pain, but they should not have the same rights as humans. Animals are part of our food chain. They are not capable of being more than what they are. Animals do not have the ability to speak, have a thought process that can be communicated nor do they understand the human civilization.
You have to protect other people, property, or other people’s pets from your own pets. There’s another responsibility that not all pet owners think about. That responsibility would be spaying or neutering, or “altering” your pet. What does “altering” you pet mean? Simply put, it means taking your pet to the vet for a quick, fairly inexpensive surgery that will prevent your pet from ever becoming a parent.
This natural urge could be taken to the extreme that one overindulges in pet ownership. This could mean owning too many pets, not properly caring for your pets or overbreeding your pets. All these overindulgences are the reasons the Humane Society of Southern Arizona exists. They are based on the idea of rehoming homeless pets, providing care for animals in need and reducing pet overpopulation. The opposite of this urge would be to not have any pets at all.
Animals are pets, either household or wildlife, and either way they should not be physically or verbally abused. Leaving animals unattended for long periods of time can lead to major problems. Neglect, uncared for, and unhealthy environment are all ways of abuse. Starvation, yelling and beating are physical and verbal abuse. Most animals get spayed or neutered to prevent the animals from breeding with one another.
