Should Britain and France stopped Germany from taking the Sudetenland? In the early hours of the 30th of September 1939 there was an urgent meeting held in Munich between to settle the ownership of the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia were the majority of people that live there are German speaking. The contract was signed by Germany France Italy and the untinted kingdom. Hitler was given the land but later took over all of Czechoslovakia. I believe that Britain and France shouldn’t have given the Sudetenland to Hitler One reason that I believe that Britain and France shouldn’t have given Germany the Sudetenland as that Czechoslovakia had a good army and would have been a good allies to have. With its 2 million trained troops compared to Germanys 2.2 million troops. With the allies having these troops the war could have ended a lot earlier. But since Hitler was given these troops it meant that Germany would become a lot harder and more dangerous. Another reason as why I believe that Germany should have been stopped is that it would just create more havoc just as Winston Churchill said about the Munich conference “we have suffered a total and unmitigated defeat. All is over… I think you will find a period of time… Czechoslovakia will be engulfed in the Nazi regime. We have passed an awful milestone in history, when the whole equilibrium of Europe has been deranged… and do not suppose this is the end. This is only the beginning of a reckoning. This was said by him meaning that nothing was solved by this agreement and that it has just caused more problems. Another reason why I believe that Britain and France shouldn’t have given the Sudetenland land to Germany is the amount of infantry that Czechoslovakia had they had 2,000,000 trained troops, 45 army divisions, 1582 aircrafts and 469 tanks.
