Rhetorical Analysis of The Evil of Animal Rights “The Evil of Animal Rights” is an article that was written by Alex Epstein and Yaron Brook. The article addressees the medical testing that is being done on animals. The author of the article talks about the medical advances that have been done using animals as testing. Without the animals, there wouldn't be as many new medicines and new cures that there are now. The author also talks about the protesters and the problems they have given to the companies that have any relation with animal testing.

For example, the eyes, scientists could not tell if the medicine will cause blindness if they do not use animals on testing. Not only humans that benefit from these animal testing but animals themselves benefit from it too. Animal testing treated a lot of animal species from many deadly diseases using vaccines that are tested on them before. It also saved many types of animal species that are at risk from extinction. These vaccines have cured many sick animals back to normal and likewise enhanced their health in many ways.

This same question has caused more questions to arise again and again; such as, should we exploit animals for our own benefit? Do our rights override that of animals, and if they do, should we be allowed to decide the fate of these animals? Furthermore, what are we to do with these animals when we have cloned them or when we have finished our experimentations on their cells? Are these clones really animals, or are they just scientific facsimiles?
While driving along the highway I noticed a billboard protesting animals be used in experimentation. If medical and scientifical experimentation were to be done in only human trials the knowledge and understanding of how drugs and procedures can affect humans would be decades behind. That is why the use of animals in experimentation is a must in order to continue advancing medicine and science. Animals have a high reproductive rate and are easy to breed. Animals have the same organs and tissues as humans do making them very good analogues.

If a doctor wants to use animals for research they have to prove that the harm of the animal equals the benefit it will give the human, also, through legislation all lab animals must be protected form cruelty of mistreatment. In addition, millions of animals are killed each year for food, does this benefit humans to the extent that animal research for life saving cures does? Surely medical research on animals is a more worthy cause of death. This is another reason why people are pro- animal testing. People have yet to realize that their favorite type of deodorant or those good-smelling fragrances they like to put on were once tested on animals. These animals are forced to swallow or inhale large quantities of a test substance or endure the pain of having chemicals applied to their sensitive eyes and skin (Peta). Many times the results of animal tests are often not applicable to humans, but even if a product has blinded an animal, it can still be marketed to you. Many testing centers keep such animals out of their natural surroundings, until time to experiment on them. Throughout that time these animals become so unadapt to their new surroundings, they become less likely to return to their natural state which gives those experimenting more reason to test them.
