So they use the constitution in many situations to protect the information they release to the public. Journalist is briefed to release the source of their information so that prosecution can take place on that individual. How could Novak’s publication of Valerie Plame’s identity jeopardize national security? * Exposing a covert agent cannot only jeopardize what case she is investigating at the moment but can also keep her from other cases. Not to mention can also put her and family members lives in danger.
There are many things that are looked down upon in the United states, but aren’t necessarily illegal. One of those things being burning the American Flag. There aren’t any written laws against flag desecration, and it should stay that way. First of all, burning the flag is a means of free speech. Freedom of Speech is the political right to communicate one's opinions and ideas using one's body and property to anyone who is willing to receive them.
If you were to get into law trouble in a foreign country the punishments can be more severe than they would be in America. In addition, everyone should and is born with the right to say whatever they want and with the freedom of religion. I feel like if people want to start religious groups, they should as long as they are equal for all. In amendment 1 it states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” We can ensure this right to all by keeping the separation of state and church because a religious organization cannot be turned down by the state if they are not causing problems. Other may feel that some upperclassmen get more
The 1st amendment I chose to do this paper on the first amendment. This amendment alows us to have freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and the freedom of expression. These freedoms were essential to the creating, and upkeeping of the United States. If it were not forthese rights, we could end up having a dictator, or living in complete fear of the government. The freedom of religion is essential in keeping an open mind, and kepping the principles this government as started on.
First of all, if the NSA were to pursue major invasions of privacy to American’s, they would be obstructing rights set forth by the Constitution. The Fourth Amendment to the Constitution prohibits non-reasonable search and seizure. If there is no probable cause for the government to search for evidence on an individual, then their legal rights should not be violated. I personally have nothing to hide, but being spied on would make me questions the true ethics of this country. On the other hand, I think that our government has the right to do everything in it’s power to ensure our safety, including spying on those in countries who have threatened our own.
The freedom that is offer in America seems so endless because it has so many. The first freedom that comes to mind is the freedom to speech; America can freely express what inside without the worries of getting in trouble with the government. The citizens can go out and strike for better pay and the government wouldn’t arrest anyone. Furthermore American has the freedom of petition; citizen of America can call forth any cause and bring it up to the government and it will be discussed to find the best option for both parties; as for Vietnam the government doesn’t listen to the citizens. Government has the last say to everything what has been issue will not be change.
Essay 1: Civil liberties are legal and constitutional rights that protect citizens from government actions. The civil rights specify what the government must do, creating limitations on government actions and creating what they cannot do. There are many different examples of civil liberties including the right to bear arms, the right to a fair trial, the right to due process, right to own property, the freedom from slavery and forced labor, freedom of press, freedom of religion and expression, the right to privacy, also the freedom from torture and death. Civil liberties are concerned with our basic right and freedoms that are ‘guaranteed’ and sourced from the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. The courts and laws have understood these documents throughout history.
if you have different beliefs you must worship in secret. Our country has a Constitution that protectsour freedom and rights. The second amendment allows us to speak out against our government.in other countries you could be thrown in jail or killed for speaking out. America celebrates peoples' differences. We have cultural diversity.
Firstly, America has the freedom of religion. You can believe any religion you want to in America. If you were in Cuba you couldn’t believe the religion you want to. The First amendment protects your right as an American citizen to believe any religion you want to. In America you have the right to pray, go to church, talk about your God to anyone, but in many other countries you don’t have the right to do that.
The Alien Friends act which allowed the president to deport anyone who he thought posed a threat. The Alien Enemies Act (this is the one that forms the basis of the Patriot Act) which allow the President to capture and deport all immigrants whose country was at war with us and the final law under the Alien Sedition Acts was the Sedition Act which severely restricted a citizens right to free speech. A person could be jailed if he said anything bad against the government or it's leaders. This is really crazy because one of our freedoms is the freedom of speech. We should be able to say whatever it is that we want.
