Research paper The Newbery Medal for books is a great honor for an author to receive. There are many authors that have received this great honor, one being Sharon Creech for her metal winning book Walk Two Moons. This book has humor, style and parts of Creech’s life throughout it that makes it a fun and interesting book to read. The themes, ideas and characters in the story are a direct relation to many instances in the author’s life. How Themes and characters are presented throughout the book help the Newbery groups decide who will be the award winner for the year.
A major portion of her life was spent in the belief that her family fled for political reasons, but it was only until 1997 that she came to know the truth that her family was Jewish and that three of her grandparents were victims of the holocaust. In 1948, her family moved to United States when she was only eleven.
