Summary By relating to the case study it explains all about recruiting perfectly eligible candidates at SG Cowen. SG Cowen is an international bank that wanted a foothold in investment banking in the United States. The firm is looking to recruit for its associates program. This case outlines the methods, process and decision criteria that the company uses to arrive at the final decision. Cowen has a policy of hiring candidates from the business schools. Initially, it used to go the top 10 schools but Chip Rae, director of recruitment at SG Cowen came up with a new strategy that would pay more attention to the next 15 schools among the top 25. The hiring process and decision points include 3 stages. The first stage is informational interviews. In this stage the interested students are invited to visit SG Cowen office and interact with the bankers there. The second stage is on-campus round. Here the interview is done to screen the candidates for the super Saturday. The third stage is super Saturday. Here the 30 students who were shortlisted in the on- campus round will be invited to the SG Cowen office for the final interviews. The interview is conducted by the senior employees of SG Cowen. Each candidate has to go through five interviews and each interview will last for almost half an hour. The SC Cowen case revolves around the decision to offer potential candidates a job at the firm. The firm has two spots open, but they still have four candidates left.
