According to the American Society of plastic surgery, the most common reason for women to get cosmetic surgery is because they are unhappy with their bodies. Most women use cosmetic surgery as a confidence boost. After receiving the treatments they feel more beautiful and more confident in themselves. They show women as skinny, chesty, and cane free but when they Photoshop these women, they don’t take into consideration the feelings of women. The media’s idea of a woman’s body image can negatively impact her self-esteem. It can cause them to feel fat and ugly, result to harmful and unhealthy weight loss and it can cause suicide. The media’s idea of how a woman should look causes many women to feel fat and ugly about themselves.
Also we have Photoshop now; no one can look as good as some one that is enhanced by a computer to be something they are not. “So she cut off her nose and her legs and offered them up.” This is what we do now to be this ideal beautiful; everyone with body image issues. How many people can truly say that they love their body anymore? How many people have gotten carried away with these surgeries and have become addicted to trying to become perfect? ”Approximately 91 percent of women are unhappy with their bodies and resort to dieting to achieve their ideal body shape.

With that image in mind, many people are self conscious and want to achieve that appearance with their selves. There are millions of false and ineffective products that persuade consumers that they do not have to diet to lose weight, or if they take a pill, they will drop a large amount of weight in a short period of time without any exercise, which is completely unrealistic. Although most weight loss plans and fitness DVDs tend to be ineffective, some can be effective. One fitness DVD, many people have found to be most effective, time manageable and realistic is Insanity by professional fitness trainer, Shaun Blokker, better known as Shaun T. The Insanity work out, is for people who are physically and mentally ready to be in the best shape of their life, people who are not lazy, or make excuses.
One thing that the writer did not focus on was that she did not put any insight from the other side of the story. I feel that there is a psychological aspect involved with people that want to get breast augmentation. The way our society has grown to see that it is a trend to get your boobs done along with other things that are a growing trend. Our society has moved toward this plastic surgery craze because of the increasingly amount of actors and of high celebrity icons showing up randomly one day with boobs from a size B to a size D. The birth of reality TV shows displaying how easy the procedure is and how normal boobs implants are. This was on TV programming time that was targeting times when kids were getting out of school, and on channels that children watch a lot.
It all started when she was 16 years old and another teammates coach told her she needed to start thinking about losing weight if she wanted to run faster. Its nearly impossible to believe that an athlete of Avil’s caliber could withstand competing with a eating disorder and still become number one in their sport, but can you imagine how much greater she would have been if she had been at the top of her game. The truth is that we live in a society where female athletes are judge women on a much higher scale than males. Female athletes shouldn’t be torn down and insulted for their appearance instead they should be held up for the extraordinary feats they accomplish. Perhaps if Hollie Avil had received the appropriate praise for being the Junior World and European champion in 2007, she would have had the strength to overcome her anorexia before it resulted in stress fractures in both her shins.
Adolescents and Body Image Recently, the world witnessed a surge of criticism on fat-shaming, with many plus-sized women coming out to flaunt their bodies and starting “Love Your Body” campaigns. Size zero went from an ideal body size to something women started looking at as unnecessarily and disgustingly unattainable. Marilyn Monroe became the new ‘ideal’ of a woman. Today, more women want to be like her. More runway designers are showcasing plus-size models in their shows and designing clothes for bigger-sized women.
Approximately 1.3 million unplanned pregnancies end in abortion every year. There are several reasons women choose to have abortions such as fear of having or raising a child, rape, or not having enough money. But whatever the situation, it is the individual woman’s decision. If an abortion is denied, the women would have the child in unsafe living conditions and the child would not get everything he/she needs to live a good life. First Trimester Abortions should not be viewed negatively because a woman's body is her own, circumstances are always different, and a woman has individual rights.

They fall victim to thousands of half-naked women who have perfect bodies, flawless personalities, and beautiful faces; but while this image of perfection is very desirable, it’s extremely unattainable for most. As a result, younger women feel inadequate within society, and older women fear the effects of ageing. Body image is a person’s perception of his or her own physical appearance.1 A person with a poor body image will perceive his or her own body as being unattractive or even repulsive to others, while a person with a good body image will see him or herself as attractive as others, or will at least accept his or her current form.
