One recommendation is to prosecute traffickers and to be aware of the complexity of the crime. Another recommendation is to increase education about human trafficking at schools so that children are less vulnerable to traffickers. If Congress can work aggressively through agencies associated with other governments worldwide, new tools and policies will have a chance to be efficient. Furthermore, the government should encourage American business to participate in the fight against human trafficking. If the people in the world can work exclusively with each other it can focus on the prevention and ending of human trafficking.

Although governments try to prevent trafficking from happening, trafficking happens every day, everywhere. Governments have established laws to punish trafficking practice and the United Nations also has established a protocol to prevent and to punish trafficking, especially for women and children. The target of trafficking can be anyone, but women and children are the two most common target of trafficking. A lot of women and children are being forced to be prostitutes or slaves. The victims of trafficking are usually from developing countries and are being trafficked to developed countries.

Children are subject to involuntary servitude as factory workers, domestic servants, beggars, agricultural workers and many times they are also sexually abused by their owners. Human trafficking is an illegal form of modern day slavery. Human beings are not property and they are unfortunately being used for forced labor and prostitution. An estimated 12 million people worldwide are in forced labor, debt bondage, forced child labor, or sexual servitude.

It is her belief that hiding the problem will only make it worse. We must allow the use of computer generated child pornography as a form of artistic free speech in order to bring the problem to the forefront of public attention. In so doing, we as a nation can deal with the problem of child abuse in all aspects of life. With an understanding of the problem in full view, the nation can condemn the actions of the pedophiles and move on to the healing process for the affected children.

Traffickers move their victims within their own countries and across international borders if it represents a profitable gain. Victims of sexual trafficking are usually people found in extreme circumstances such as homelessness, runaways, refugees, tourists, kidnap victims and drug addicts. Traffickers also referred to as pimps, exploit the most vulnerable while promising lucrative gain for the victims such as marriage, education, work, money or an overall better quality of life.

Indication of the Situation 3.3 Background/Causes of the problem Some causes of the problem are: i Foreigners entering our boarders bringingin groups of people who have been promised to work on onward movements to Australia, NZ, USA and Europe, mostly chinese and indians. ii Foreign tourists visiting Fiji Iii Sailors on foreign fishing vessels arriving in Fiji iv Local hotels taking in underage girls for commercial sexual exploitation by their foreign guest.
