This needs to stop and people need to start changing their attitudes towards the youth. Such stigmas being given out at these young ages can destroy a future. Juveniles, especially of color, are a lot of the time arrested for non-violent crimes, and when they come out of the system they are most likely given a probation officer and all of a sudden they are known as “criminals”. But, I see this as a second chance… avoid the jail time, learn from the mistake, and get straightened out because the crime was not severe and this shouldn’t define you. They were deviants, not criminals.
If you commit a terrible crime such as being a sexual predator/child molester or something of that nature the shame will be with you the rest of your life and it’s going to be hard overlooking it because of the laws we have placed. In jail the inmates will even look down on you and treat you like scum they will even threaten your life. The shame for somebody doesn’t stop after the crime has been forgotten about or once they are out of jail. They have to register themselves as a sexual offender you can’t just move and try to leave it behind you. With the internet we have websites that allow us to see if sex offenders live near us it will give you there exact address.
Some juvenile inmates come from broken homes, divorced families, deadbeat parents and are just trying to survive. Juvenile prisons need to be different from adult prisons, you can’t treat kids like adults, especially the younger juveniles. They need a role model to influence them positively, punishment but an emphasis on hope a better life more than anything. Adults still need hope, but if you’re still committing crime as an adult you’re either in the wrong place at the wrong
This case led to the questioning of whether the legal system is effective for the individual and the community and whether it really brought justice to the victims of crime. A large proportion of society feel let down by the legal system, as a mechanism put into place to protect and bring justice has obviously failed in this case. The fact that serious sex offenders who place a black mark on the well being of victims, both physically and mentally being let off in less than 20 years caused a lot of conroversy. Although it may be argued that 55 years was a harsh penalty and didn’t warrant the crime, the victim’s of the crime received a much harsher sentence, a life of trauma and a constant feeling of alarm. Denele Crozier a Women's Health NSW executive officer asked the question many women had asked after the appeal was established ``How many times do women have to be constantly let down and disappointed by the legal
For example, in the article “Should All Convicted Sex Offenders Be Required to Register?” by Josh Farley, the sex offender here was required to register as one for the sexual/mutual relationship he had with a minor while in his 30s. Okay, the child was under 18, but he is not to blame for a sexual relationship that both parties agreed to at the time. I hate to say it, but unfortunately a lot of children make these “grown-up” decisions without understanding the consequences, and to get them out of “trouble” they blame the “other guy”, which in most cases, like this one, the “other guy” is the one who pays because of what laws state. Even though the child knew what was going on and wanted to engage in a sexual relationship with this man, the adult gets charged because the child didn’t want to take responsibility so they used the easy way out and played victim. Of course one may argue, she was 15 and didn’t know what she was doing.
The first group is sexual offenders that commit crimes of sexual violence against adults. Some may give this group name of rapist. Surprisingly this is not the classification most of these sex offenders are in. The second class of offenders is criminals who commit crimes of sexual violence against children who are not within their family group of friends. These offenders usually choose their targets at random but may be have personal preferences like gender or size.
Recently abandonment of children is a felony in most states and Benjamin's story clearly shows a crime. "The only common thread is that these people appear to be desperate and totally ignorant of what could be done for their babies," said Michael Kharfen, spokesman for the Administration for Children and Families (qtd. in Sussman). But parents refusal growing their infant shouldn't be approached as a crime if they voluntarily bring him to the
It would give the law enforcement personnel a bad name or rap because he or she broke the policy. The victim would not feel justice had been served if the suspect walked. The precinct where the evidence was held may look incompetent because they cannot follow procedures, which could end up with an internal investigation. The only person that would be happy would be the person that the evidence was against. The first person to handle the weapon would initial or write an identifying number on the evidence.
Sounds dreadful, right? That is the chore of a child prostitute. Child prostitution is a serious crime that has been going on since before written history. Efforts to stop it have been largely futile. If even one child is suffering through this pain, then the world has failed to succeed at helping.
The robber, in this case, made the decision to commit this crime, and upon getting caught, or being seen, must suffer the consequences of being deemed evil, because someone who is out for the greater good of people and society as a whole, wouldn’t be stealing anything from anyone for personal gains. The last example I will give in regards to evil being present in so many different ways is the touchy subject of child molestation. Everything about child molestation is evil and inhumane, so my view on the matter can be seen right there. The people who commit these crimes may not have been evil in their life leading up to the crime, however, once a thought like that comes to mind, only bad things can happen from there on out, affirming that evil is a part of us, and it is our choice whether to carry out things that most people wouldn’t dare of doing, such as molesting a young
