Ultimately, The Birds short story by Daphne Du Maurier had the best carried element of suspense at the point in humanity when horror was less prevalent. Intermittently, the plots of The Birds, film and story, touch base rarely and the anecdote reels the viewer in much stronger than the movie. Daphne Du Maurier ushers one through her world with three strengths that Alfred Hitchcock did not have, partially because he was too focused on the plot, and partly because he did not read the piece- he skimmed it. As an artist, one can say that both had strengths and weaknesses, however, The Birds short story planted suspense thoroughly in the mind of the perceiver in ways the movie didn’t. Blatantly, Alfred Hitchcock introduces his movie with a shot of cawing birds, establishing suspense, and then drops the audience on their rears, stranded with a few shots of squawking birds.
A Separate Peace: Comparing the Movie and Novel The movie A Separate Peace is different from the novel in a few ways, however still stuck the main plot of the novel. Many scenes were altered in the making of the film that were different in the book. The movie did leave out a few things such as characters and added a few things as well. The book did lack many interesting aspects, but were made up within the movie. The difference between the feeling of the schools in the movie and book are significant.
Quite a cult of hardcore fans has developed around it, and for those folks, the film is essentially immune to criticism and reinterpretation. The biggest surprise to me was that the bulk of Donnie Darko is a realist drama. I had long heard about how strange the film was, and heard it described as being partially sci-fi (which it is) and horror (which it isn't if you ask me). It was supposedly a "reality-bender". I'm much more of a "genre" fan, and I much prefer fantasy, surrealism and absurdism to realism.
The historical inaccuracies in the movie “Braveheart” have several basic areas which include adding or deleting characters and inaccuracy regarding the lives and actions of historical figures. The Middle East has been seen often, and by many, as a lost cause when it comes to the implementation of democracy. As most of the world took to freedom and justice, the Middle East was one of the few regions that were left behind. There are many reasons as to why the Middle East has developed such immunity towards the enticing new world democracy offers. Many reasons of this ‘immunity’ can been seen in the challenges the Arab world faces, such as; the longstanding authoritarian regimes, the notion that the Middle East is fundamentally incompatible with democracy, and the lack of a civil society, which is needed for democracy to prevail.

Jessica Burger HUM 240: Final Project Postmodernism Postmodernism is weird. It seeks to refuse definition by nature, although many have tried and more have argued over those attempts. It’s noted as having influence in many different mediums such as art, architecture, music, film, literature, photography, and so on. At safest, we can take postmodernism to be a movement within society, or as Frederic Jameson says in his book: POSTMODERNISM, or, The Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism, “It seems to me essential to grasp postmodernism not as a style but rather as a cultural dominent: a conception which allows for the presence and coexistence of a range of very different, yet subordinate features.” For our final project we decided to create a postmodernist short film. We soon realized the first thing we needed to do in order to grasp and appropriately apply the concept of postmodernism, was to understand what it is not: modernism.

While Skyfall isn’t based directly on one of Fleming’s novels, Broccoli, director Sam Mendes and the rest of the cast all agree the books have attitude, and the key to a great Bond is staying faithful to that tone.
