1.)Descirbe Selena and her family members. Tell where they are from and how the family grew up. A. Selena was born: Selena Quintanilla-Perez. Her parents were Abraham Jr. and Marcella Quintanilla. She was the youngest of three children, her older brother Abraham III, and older sister Suzette Michelle Quintanilla. Selena and her family lived in Lake Jackson, TX where she was born and they lived there until Selena was 9, they then moved to Corpus Christi, Tx. where she spent the remainder of her life until her death. When Selena was just 6 years old her father was teaching her older brother to play the guitar and Selena started to sing, her father saw her talent and they then formed a band with the three Quintanilla children and they practiced almost every day, their lives growing up were spent around music and the band. 2.)Did Selena speak Spanish? If yes, tell how and when she learned it. If np, tell why she didn’t speak Spanish . Tell what her first language was. How did this impact her singing career? A. Selena did not speak Spanish as a child , her father made her start singing in Spanish to extend her singing career. This is how she ended up speaking spanish and learning it. English was Selena’s first language. 3.)How does Selena experience racism throughout the movie? A. They got turned down at motel rooms and venues that were predominatly white neighborhoods. 4.)How does Abraham (her father) experience racism ? A. In 1961 Abraham was a member of The Dino’s and they were going to play a club by the beach, the owner though they were italian and when he found out they were mexican, he wouldn’t let them play and only wanted to pay them $10, but Abraham ripped up the check. Then when they played at a Latin club, they got booed off stage and fights broke out because they only sang in english. 5.)Tell as much as you can
