Anonymous once said “Sincere love, compassion, and care can ease the pain of abuse, hatred, bigotry, and jealousy in the lives of people. What this means to me is that lobe compassion, and care can help overcome any problem, pain, or abuse in someone’s life. I agree with this statement because in life many pains that are in everyday life and the big pains are overcome by love, and care from family, neighbors, and friends. I will use the Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd to support my opinion. The Secret life of Bees is a historical fiction about a girl in South Carolina in 1964. Her name is Lily Owens. She has an abusive father T.Ray and she has the unbearable burden of living with the fact that she killed her mother. She has a colored nanny whose name is Rosaleen. She is a larger woman who is strong on the outside, but on the inside she is as delicate as a rose petal. One day Rosaleen brings Lily to town with her after T.Ray gives the okay of course. On the way to town some racist white men stop Rosaleen and Lily and ask where they are going. Rosaleen responds by saying “I’m going to register to vote”. One of the men says “looks like we have a model citizen”. Then Rosaleen takes her can full of snuff spit and pours it all over the men’s shoes. After a small fight police show up and arrest Rosaleen and they bring Lily along with them in the car. When they get to the police station T.Ray picks Lily up and leaves Rosaleen there. When they get home T.Ray puts Lily in her room and she screams”I HATE YOU”. He responds by charging at Lily she runs to the other side of the bed the T.Ray is gone Lily packs and tries to sneak out of the house. She gets to the porch and then she hears T.Ray’s truck pull up and then Lily hid under the porch. T.Ray walked up onto the porch and then Snout T.Ray’s dog finds Lily’s scent and starts to sniff in her
