Josh Beatty Mrs. Moore Honors English 10 April 28th, 2011 The majority of people have been picked on or teased at some point in their life. Racism in the 1960’s was an extreme form of bullying. The civil rights movement was occurring in this time. The Secret Life of Bees happens during this hard, and wonderful, time for African Americans, specifically 1964, wonderful because they were getting their rights as an American citizen. In the book, Rosaleen, an African American housekeeper and nanny, gets upset with the bullying and the overpowering of the whites and acts out; this acting out gets her put in jail.

Summary The “Secret Life of Bees” by Sue Monk Kidd is the story of a troubled 14 year old white girl Lily Owens, who lives on a peach farm with her cruel, uncaring father T. Ray. After her mother dies, Lily runs away from home and ends up living with a family of black sisters, August, June and May, who care for her, and help her a great deal. The characters in the story include Lily Owens the main character, T Ray her mean and uncaring
Later on, he learns that Lorna is still alive but still not responsive. Meanwhile, the Joker then begins his reign of terror. Just as Leeny (the blonde bartender from earlier) discovers that some unknown benefactor has paid her entire medical school tuition, people on the street notice a giant blimp heading towards Gotham's twin towers. Police try to communicate with it, but the blimp (bearing a gigantic smiley face on the front) bursts into flames and explodes with many shards of glass falling towards the citizens of Gotham, killing many. The Joker looks on proudly, in his demented eyes he sees them falling dead with big smiles on their faces.
When he gets into the motor home Joy tries to attack him with a frying pan the killer then pulls out a .50 caliper Desert Eagle and blowers her brains all over the table to the motor home. Chris then get into a fight with him he tackles him out the door. They then start wresting on the ground and another killer comes and splits his head open with an axe. Jeff then locks the door to the motor home he then decides to run the killers over with the motor home when he turns around to find them they were gone. Jeff then is waiting their then he notice something moving in the trees and it was one of the killers with a cross bow before Jeff has any time to react the killer puts a arrow in his head.
Throughout The Secret Life of Bees, Lily, the main character of the novel, undergoes many important changes. These changes occur as she grows in her understanding of herself and the world that surrounds her. As Lily travels deeper into the South and is confronted more frequently with racism, her understanding and hatred for racism grow. In addition, Lily comes to terms with the death and absence of her mother. Lily finds peace within herself by seeking other means to fill the void left by her mother’s death and becoming spiritually linked with Our Lady Chains.
When Delia comes back home she realizes the snake is gone and instead of staying in the house she goes out to the shed to wait for the snake to leave or for Sykes to come home. Sykes returns home and without a warning from Delia he enters the house. Since it’s dark he cannot see that the snake is loose. Sykes searches for a match or light but cannot find one. As he is walking around the house he suddenly runs into the snake and it bites him.
Muriel wanted a necklace with a picture of her, and the other side Courage. Meanwhile the swamp monster was upset and decided to search for his girlfriend, and also passed by the key ring shop. He broke the shop doors violently and growled at the shopkeeper, who was frightened and hid behind the counter. He started to demand for if his girlfriend visited the shop. He got really scared and the swamp monster got extremely angry and broke down the whole shop.
The letter is full of fantastic lies. That time Eunice and Steve have a loud and violent fight. Eunice down the steps and threatens to call the police to get her husband in trouble for beating her. Steve comes to the Kowalski’ door looking for Eunice. Blanche is watching all this drama with disgust when Stanley comes around the corner and informs Stella that Eunice is getting a drink at the Four Deuces, the bar around the corner where Eunice has gone.
Sometime after Tom and Daisy came to Gatsby’s party Gatsby was invited to Daisy’s house. This is the time when Tom became very uneasy he saw Gatsby and his wife Daisy hugging and kissing each other in his house. Tom decided that they should all go to town because he was very, very disturbed. Tom and everyone finally stopped a hotel and then Tom started pointing at Gatsby saying he knows what he’s trying to do steal Daisy. Then Gatsby tried to force Daisy to say “Just tell him the truth-that you never loved him-and its all wiped out forever”(139).
The first person it met was the maid Osan, who was worse than the student. Osan grabbed the cat and threw her out of the house again and again. This was the reason why it had stolen the fish the other day. When the maid was about to throw the cat for the last time, the master of the house came out and asked the maid what was the row about. The maid with the cat in her hand told the master that she had repeatedly throwing the cat which was sneaking into the kitchen again and again.
