1. Does the fact that juries can make mistakes mean there should be no death penalty, which once inflicted, cannot be withdrawn? Why or why not? A. Absolutely not! I think that anytime there is sufficient new evidence that there was possible a mistake made, or foul play that the case should be reopened and re-tried if necessary. This is someone’s life at stake and we should be as sure as humanly possible that the right outcome has taken place before its to late. 2. Does the policy of providing public defenders for the accused ensure legal protection for all, as originally intended or does it mean “second-class justice” for the poor? A.
