I know that if I do change my thinking, I can actually have a better life, start my day without sadness or depression. For instance, depression makes people to sit at one place and think about stuffs all day, however it is not going to make it better. They must go out and do something. After watching the video, I really want to change my way of thinking. Yet, it always easy to say but hard to do it.
A lot of people are just trying to get by life without ever stopping and thinking about how their actions are going to affect us now and later, they just go by life trying to get to the end without trying to make a change or impact in our world. Everyone should be here to do that. America does have it's good thoughts though, they have good means for the change that they want to do, but it's all talk, no action. We can't expect something to get done when all we do is talk about it, we have to actually get up and do something about the problems and the changes we think are here and should happen. A lot of people can relate to this since this may be the way they are treated on a daily basis which is why you need to keep your eyes open for anything that comes your way. There are also some lines in the song that stand out and give a very strong meaning. The first is “where everybody stands and keeps score.” It is telling us, as people, that, in real life, there will be people who judge you and constantly try to make you fall; and suddenly, you know that you must look behind yourself and you have to be ready to let go of everything, just to fight and defend yourself because no one is going to do that for you like when you were a child. This line is a metaphor for what happens when you step into real life and realize that everything depends on you, while, in your early years, you had always thought that you were strong enough to face it all but it actually turns out that it’s very different from how you imagined it. Another line, which is in the chorus, also supports this theme.

This is what motivated me to want to change myself and become a better person before it was too late. I started getting good grades in school and realized what I needed to do my best to get away and experience life outside of my community. My family is the reason why I want to help people. I think that if the right people were in place when my family has made this life changing decision they wouldn’t have slipped up so bad. I see a lot of people that have a lot of talent to reach new heights but they allow childish ways and mistakes keep them from reaching their full potential.

All the choices that I've made in my life have produced either a negative or positive consequence. Today, I am able to look back on my actions, analyze the result, and apply the knowledge I gained from my past to my current and future choices that will be made. Looking back and learning will help me make better decisions that will benefit me more now. Without the past, I wouldn't be the same person because I wouldn't have had lessons to learn from. Having my own unique past explains why I don't have the same identity as anyone else.
