The men for the most part suffered minor injuries, but the women's were more severe. (Marino) Mrs. Hutton was killed immediately when the car rolled over her. Texting and Driving The date was May 16, 2009. Amanda Umscheid was texting her sister Ashley, who was driving at the time. Ashley’s truck entered the median while she was reading the recently sent text message. She attempted to correct but ended up flipping her truck several times before being ejected from the vehicle. Ashley died on the scene.
I also flatlined while in the helicopter and they revived me again. When I got to St Marys my heart stopped and once again they brought me back. I needed 4 units each of plasma, platelets and red blood cells. I had compound fractures of both femurs, both my lungs collapsed, numerous broken ribs, an open fracture of my jaw, shattered my right orbital bone, shattered the bones in my right ear canal and several skull fractures resulting in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).They did not think I would live through the night. No one believed I would live, not the paramedics, the helicopter crew nor the trauma team.

The ride home was a time where I really began to understand Mikayla, her father, and where she comes from. Without his truck, I would have never been able to reach this level of understanding of my girlfriend. It helped Mikayla and I reach a new level on our relationship. Now, I have seen her at her worst, and things can only get better from here. In horror, I had never seen anything like it. The impact had destroyed the door, and jammed metal shard through her leg. She was stuck, and there was virtually nothing I could accomplish for her. I unbuckled her seatbelt, and one of the other people screamed, “You have to get her out of there, now!” In an instant, a huge guy came running up, and started yanking on the driver’s side door, in good means I’m sure, but only jammed the door farther into her leg. I showed the guy what he had done, and mortified, he slowly backed away.
