Matt now has a son, a good wife, and an ordinary life; he still has a good family life without going to university. In contrast with Kate, although she has good education and job, she doesn’t have her own family and in fact, she says, “I had never thought I would really love anyone.” (89) From another perspective, she seems to be the one that is going to have a sad life. Similar with Luke, when he rejects Sally it is due to his responsibility as a caregiver. He is happy with his decision since it is for his family. If Matt chooses to go to university instead and leaves Marie, he will most likely lose his happiness and truly be an emotionless “nerd” and suffers like Kate who does not truly knows the meaning of love.

My Actions, Your Consequences In the play “Fences”, the character Troy is a very interesting one. Troy is a fifty-three year old man with a powerful love for his wife, Rose, and tough love for his son Cory. Troy doesn't always listen to people, he does what he believes is right at the moment to prevent any bad things from happening or any problems to occur. He just wants his family to live a practical and responsible life. Troy affects everyone's life with his choices, his mind set and past experiences in life which causes a negative affect on them while at the same time it matures them to grow up.
Doodle’s brother and Joe compare because Doodle and Simon both depend on these boys for things. They both help to mentor, push, and help Doodle and Simon to do their best. Simon had an impeccable faith in all and in God. Doodle had faith in his brother and himself towards the end of his life. Both boys have pride in themselves because they both are pushing themselves for the better, and they believe vanity is utterly unimportant.
* Theme- Love: characters are in a love triangle which they never escape. Ethan loves Mattie and wishes to reveal this to her, but he never truly can, and in the end they are stuck back at the Frome’s house with Zeena forever. This novel shows how Ethan maybe never even loved Zeena, he only married her because she helped Ethan’s mother while she was sick. Monique states, “You know, Alexis, this is what keeps me alive – the power of words. Words live forever they point out the right direction and express feelings simply without removing what complexity exists in them. The words you were never able to find explain your suffering – the absence of those words prevented us from growing together” (14) this quote clearly illustrates the struggle between Monique and her partner Alexis. Due to the absence of Monique’s father and mother, Monique grew as a very lonely child. Now as an adult Monique has a hard time adjusting from only being in her own company to sharing and being with someone other than herself.
They form a very close relationship, and it grows into a passionate affair. Edna fights and struggles against society for independence and is overwhelmed with confusion, but she is finally able to break free from the role she was cast for through her successes. Like an audition, Edna does not make the cut for the role of a motherly woman. She loves her children dearly, but she does not express it like most mothers do.
