Sana Dati: Battling Uncertainty For Love Love is a tricky thing. It brings both the best and worst in us in the direst of situations. It can be your greatest weapon or your worst nightmare. Quoting the film, “Sometimes you can’t tell if your weakness if your strength or if your strength is your weakness.” What makes it or breaks it, however, is the certainty you put in the way you act. Opening the movie where two sisters argue about the wrong pair of shoes up to the last scene where Andrea says “I love you” to Robert, despite her confused state, the film explores various levels of uncertainty in different forms of love. It proved that time is not really the most important factor when it comes to people who care for each other. Take, for example, Andrea’s time spent with Robert and Dennis. She both had only met them for a week before truly getting serious with their relationship. Yet, one can clearly see that she had developed a very strong bond with Dennis, despite their complete lack of time, and that she hardly knew Robert even though that they got married. Truly, when a person is not sure of what he or she feels, it can always lead to emotional disasters. It’s funny how a single shred of doubt can lead a person to rethink about everything they’ve done in their life. Aside from Andrea’s case, love’s power against doubt is showcased in Dennis’s life. Regardless of his crippling disease, he still pushes through with his work to provide for his family. He was willing to move mountains for his brother’s education. Yet, when Andrea came into his life, he didn’t even need to think twice if he was going with her or not. He decided to spend time with Andrea in Manila instead of staying in the province where can be taken care of by his mother. The sureness in his actions made the audience both pity and pine over him.
