Claims/Assumptions/Evidence Jacqueline Stallone, the sole rediscoverer of rumpology and the writer of the article “About Rumpology,” explains what Rumpology is and how it works. According to Stallone, Rumpology is a way for people to receive some sort of understanding of their past and future life and about their personality through rump readings. In order to achieve this, Rumpologists study the human’s rump. For some people, this process can be described as going to a psychic for a reading of their future. Stallone explains Rumpology and tries to associate other human divination systems to it. The process of Rumpology is done by examining a clear photograph of the client’s rump. She examines the photograph by looking at all the lines, bumps, marks, and more. The most focused areas that are examined are the left and right Gluteal Spheres (the cheeks) and the Gluteal Crevice (the crack). Moreover, one hidden assumption made by the believer of Rumpology is that it is okay that there is not enough proof to show that Rumpology works. She did not provide detailed, real life examples of any Rumpology reading of a person. If real examples of some readings she has done were presented, Rumpology perhaps would have been taken in consideration a bit more seriously. One kind of evidence Stallone uses is the historical evidence of Rumpology. She briefly explains how Rumpology was used by the Romans and Greeks. Roman emperors would seek guidance from readers to help them towards their future or get a precise understanding of their personality. The readers also helped them with important decision making in their lives. During consultations, the Rumpologists would have their client cover their rump with a layer of henna dye and sit on a fabric or any other material that would easily imprint all the physical details like lines and bumps.
