They found that by creating a nation, a symbol, a legal unity called the United States, they could take over land, profits, and political power from favorites of the British Empire. In the process, they could hold back a number of potential rebellions and create a consensus of popular support for the rule of a new, privileged leadership. When we look at the American Revolution this way, it was a work of genius, and the Founding Fathers deserve the awed tribute they have received over the centuries.
The early settlers of America were hopeful that the country would, in the future, be a place of freedom, strength, and opportunity. The history of the United States, however, does not simply consist of positivity, good times and happiness. There were many negative and difficult times during U. They did this by believing in the Manifest Destiny ideology in which as the only Republic of their kind, it was their duty to propagate American beliefs globally (as well as continentally). The fundamental components comprising the foreign policy established by Jackson meshed with the sense of power that was blanketing the nation. People began to believe in the ideals of Manifest Destiny and the notion claimed by John Quincy Adams, “that the United States and North America were identical.” This imperialistic notion, as well as the fear of European encroachment amidst the Western Hemisphere, fueled the expansion towards Latin America. At first, it wasn’t international to hinder the freedoms of rising nations, nor to exercise surveillance over foreign power relations.
These papers were loyally devoted. The Richmond Whig, cheered on the almost defunct Whig Party, the Vindicator endorsed secession, while the Enquirer endorsed the Democratic Party.
