Friar Laurence knows that Romeo and Juliet have feelings for each other. Friar Laurence is even the man that was willing to marry Romeo and Juliet. While Romeo and Friar Laurence were waiting for Juliet on the altar, Friar Laurence tells Romeo,“These violent delights have a violent ends/ And in their triumph die.” (2.5.9-10) Friar Laurence knows that their marriage will bring about consequences, and he still chose to marry them. If Friar Laurence didn’t marry Romeo and Juliet, their deaths wouldn’t have occurred. After Romeo is banished from Verona, Friar Laurence helps Juliet come up with a plan for her not to marry Paris.
i. 62-63). Juliet threatened to kill herself believing that it was the only solution to end the problem, not realizing she is mimicking how she will die. She wanted to keep her love for Romeo pure, and the only way to do that was to kill herself and escape reality. Her love for Romeo was filled with violence, showing that they were never meant to be together.
Lord Capulet essentially endorsed Juliet’s relationship with Romeo without even knowing it. The quarrel between the families caused them to lose their progenies. The deaths of beloved Romeo and Juliet were due to the, “Capulet[‘s and] Montague[‘s], [...] hate, that Heaven [found] means to kill [their] joys with love!” (V.3.315-317) The dispute between the Capulet’s and the Montague’s made Romeo and Juliet’s love less achievable; their love was quite tenacious that they killed themselves to be together. In an acute argument between Juliet and her father, Lord Capulet demanded that she was to, “go with Paris to Saint Peter’s Church or [he would] drag [Juliet] on a hurdle thither” (III.5.173-174). Lord Capulet was in dismay when Juliet repudiated marrying Paris, that she only longed for true love.
The Friar helps Juliet fake her death and fool her parents. Although the Friar's intentions were good, the end resulted badly because he thought that if Romeo and Juliet were married, it might help to reunite the two families. "Till holy church incorporate two in one." The Nurse is
Firstly, Friar Laurence married Romeo and Juliet knowing that their families hated each other and that it could end very poorly (Shakespeare 944-45). Friar knew this was a bad idea, but he continued with it and married the two. However, if he did not do this he would never be in trouble and Romeo and Juliet would then have to get married the ordinary way, thus, letting both families know. Next Friar decides to give Juliet a vial which will put her in a death-like state and sends a letter to Romeo about the plan, but it does not get to him (Shakespeare 993-1012). If Friar Laurence did not give Juliet the vial, Romeo would not kill himself because he thinks Juliet is dead.
If they haven’t of been married would they still have killed themselves? Maybe if the Friar had of not wed them or told there parents if would have stopped them. The fight with Tybalt was what causes the banishment of Romeo. If Romeo hadn’t of killed Tybalt he wouldn’t have been banishment which would have mean he would have got the message about Juliets fake death and wouldn’t have killed himself. It was Romeos chose to fight Tybalt.
He is now angry with Tybalt and wants revenge. ‘Fire-eyed fury be my conduct now.’ Romeos change in mood is significant as it leads to the death of Tybalt and Romeo being banished . Shakespeare also uses dramatic irony to make Act 3 Scene 1 such an intense and significant scene. When Romeo refuses to fight Tybalt all the other characters are confused as to why. ‘Good Capulet, which name I tender as dearly as my own.’ The audience know the reason why Romeo won’t fight Tybalt, which is because Romeo and Juliet are now married.
Upon further investigation, Friar Lawrence should receive the blame. Admittedly, Tybalt has a large influence on Romeo and Juliet’s death, because he caused the fight. Romeo tried to avoid it, but Mercutio joined in and started the fight and later Tybalt killed Mercutio. Romeo got mad and killed Tybalt and got exiled from Verona. However, Friar Lawrence is more responsible than Tybalt for the deaths of our “star cross’d lovers” because he allowed Romeo and Juliet marry and it caused Romeo to avoid the fight at first with Tybalt, than later tried to stop the fight between Tybalt and Mercutio and caused Mercutio to get killed by Tybalt.
As soon as the nurse finds out that Tybalt is dead her reaction is very troubling and she doesn’t exactly know how to break it to Juliet so at the end result she says, “Tybalt is gone, and Romeo banished; Romeo that kill’d him, he is banished.” (3.2.69-70). This quote is a literal and a grammatical structure because Juliet is very upset but angry as well, she is young and she doesn’t exactly known what to do in the situation. Romeo’s blamed for the death of Tybalt. Fat occurs again when Romeo comes to the understanding that Juliet is dead and he kills himself too. At the start of the play Romeo dreams that if he goes to
Romeo and Juliet frequently notice signs, such as when Romeo believes that Juliet is dead, he cried, ‘then I defy you, stars,’ (Act V, Scene I, Line 24) confirming the idea that Romeo and Juliet’s love, was not a part of their fate. The mechanism of destiny is clear in all areas involving the lovers: the feud between their families, the disasters that ruin Friar Lawrence’s plans and the tragic timing of Romeo’s suicide and Juliet’s awakening. These are not simple coincidences, but a manifestation of destiny, which causes the unavoidable deaths of Romeo and Juliet. “If only...” If only the letter was delivered to Romeo, if only Juliet had woken up sooner, if only fate was on their side. Against all odds, Romeo and Juliet did not give up their love for each other, right to the very end.
