It’s really sad that all of this could have been avoided if Juliet would’ve just left with Romeo or if their families gave up their hatred for one another. Throughout Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet’s personality drastically changes. At first Romeo was love-sick and Juliet didn’t want anything to do with marriage. Then they meet, fall in love and get married.
The Betrayal of the Only Child In Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, two young lovers, Romeo and Juliet, from rivalling families must hide their love for each other, or face the wrath of their parents. Throughout the play, many characters are subject to a betrayal, or betray someone or something else. For example, Friar Lawrence betrays his duty as a priest in Verona by marrying Romeo and Juliet, and Tybalt betrays Lord Capulet by hunting Romeo. However, the most significant betrayal in the play is Lord and Lady Capulet's betrayal of Juliet by forcing her to marry Paris, and completely disregarding her wants. This betrayal hurt Juliet in many ways, and it hurt her parents a little too, as this would soon lead to her death.
Romeo, in an act of revenge, kills Tybalt. The Prince, trying to maintain peace, banished Romeo from Verona. The Nurse brought the news to Juliet “Tybalt is gone, and Romeo banished; Romeo that killed him, he is banished” (Romeo and Juliet 2. 2. 69-70 ) This made Juliet miserable over Romeo's banishment, meanwhile her parents thought her unhappiness was over Tybalt's death.
Although Friar Lawrence’s intentions were good, his decisions and actions were the sole cause of Romeo and Juliet’s death. Do you agree? Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is the story of two young lovers who fall for one another only to realise that due to the feud their families’ share their love is destined for destruction. With all good intentions the minor character, Friar Lawrence was one of, but not the complete cause of their tragic end. There are three dominant aspects of their deaths, the feud between the two families, Friar Lawrence and most importantly, fate.
William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” explores true love in amongst feuding families whilst exploiting the notion that deception leads to catastrophic misfortune. The young poetically portrayed Romeo’s inability to control unchecked emotions, directs him to being disloyal amongst family and his “star crossed [lover]” Juliet. Furthermore, Juliet’s love for “(her) Romeo” causes her to turn a blind eye to his disloyalty and hastily act on his “banished”, through these actions she uses trickery to deceive her family and because of her love affected decisions. Friar Lawrence along with the nurse, cause confusion for the hasty lovers which renders to heightening the family’s feud. Shakespeare presents the concept that deceptive decisions lead to tragic events.
Most of us have had some sort of bad luck before, like putting red in with the whites, locking yourself out of the house or waking up late, and in some cases one bad thing can lead to another… and another. In William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet it is proven to us how bad luck can lead to two deaths. The play tells the story of two lovers from feuding families who fight to stay together despite a series of bad luck. First Romeo is banished from Verona for killing Juliet’s cousin; secondly Romeo doesn’t receive the letter telling him Juliet is under a potion causing her to look dead which causes Romeo to kill himself, and lastly Juliet wakes up from her potion shortly after Romeo has poisoned himself resulting in Juliet’s suicide. Romeo and Juliet go through a series of unfortunate events which ultimately leads to their deaths.
Romeo’s own bad decisions lead to the tragedy. Capulet’s poor judgement adds to the catastrophe. Friar Laurence’s terrible choices also lead to the final disaster of the play. Every character’s decisions in the play somehow lead to the deaths of Romeo and

Who is to blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet? The play ‘Romeo and Juliet’ is a romantic tragedy written by William Shakespeare, where the eponymous characters play a vital role in relation to their untimely death, thus can be blamed. In the addition to the protagonists, Friar Lawrence and the nurse indirectly contribute to the disastrous outcome, partly due to their lack of guidance to the young romantics. These four characters in the text are all held to be somewhat responsible for the disastrous occurrences that ultimately result in two suicides and 4 deaths. The play explores a short journey of “two star crossed lovers” who unite their two rivaling families through grief.
Antigone was also doomed from the beginning. She was doomed from the beginning despite her noble intentions to bury her dead brother. Antigone from the play “Antigone”, by Sophocles, is a tragic her because she exhibits all the qualities of a tragic hero. A tragic hero is a protagonist in a tragedy who must have a tragic flaw. Antigone from the play “Antigone” indeed does have a tragic flaw.
