The coordination of patients is also poor which can result in devastating delays in diagnosis and treatment of patients. The community also has very poorly organized programs for cancer prevention and community education. Education is a key factor in the health of the community and getting early diagnosis of treatable cancers. Orthopedics As seen in the trend with oncology the orthopedic needs of the community are expected to grow by 46% in the next five years, with inpatient spine and joint procedures increasing by 30% and outpatient spine and joint procedures increasing by 350%. All of these numbers show a huge increase in demand.
How Health Care Has Changed The changes within health care are now having an effect on consumers and health care providers. The most significant change that has taken place within the health care system is the advancement of new technology. The new technology such as diagnostic, screening techniques, medical interventions, surgical techniques, and techniques for drug delivery has helped health care providers to adequately serve and diagnosis patients. The computer system is also a new technology that has not only helped entities to communicate efficiently but it has also changed the way health care providers perform his or her job duties. However, not all of the new technology will successfully emerge into the health care system because it is very costly to implement.
Electronic Health Records have altered the workflow of a clinician’s office, turning into the new “desktop” for health care contributors and administrators equally. Electronic Health Records can reinforce patient care, and can also provide a mixture of irritation and productivity to office administration. These methods have influenced the custom of medicine today and are about to enlarge that influence by way of utilizing new methods of patient care through EHR patient portals. The EHR patient portal, routing communication among health care provider’s and their patient’s, is rising quickly. The performance of a portal concentrate on administrative data exchange like appointment request or reminders provides an increase in office productivity and staff workflow.
In addition, newer technology requires that the hospital invest even more in providing the updated technology to its customers to be relevant in the competitive health care sector. Market Share: Bert Fish medical center has been having a challenging external environment and has been competing to keep its market share. The market share of Bert Fish (BFMC) in Volusia County as measured by inpatient discharges has been between 6.9-8.4% during the period of 2011-2013. Similarly, the Emergency Department has been having a market share of 10.2-11.1% in the county during the period of 2012-2013. Operations
The spending grew at an exponential rate nationally, while in recent years the growth in corporate costs slowed to a standstill (AFSCME, 2015). This has caused a downward trend in spending and is not sustainable for the future. Costs will be required to be cut by the hospital, which will cause difficulty in providing quality healthcare to all patients. Trinity Community Hospital ensures patient care is consistently high in quality and the service excellence is high priority for patients and staff. With values in service excellence, quality and safety, growth and profitability, and staff achievement, it’s important to remain knowledgeable of the national trends in healthcare as it may have a larger impact in how Trinity may deliver healthcare to the orthopedic, cardiovascular, and cancer centers.
As statistics show, there has already been an increase in the cost of health care partially due to the shortage in health care practitioners and the need to offer higher reimbursement for treatments. If predictions are true, and there is a shortage of 125,000 physicians by the year 2025, the cost of health care will increase more rapidly. Because health care and therefore an individual’s life is considered priceless, there are demand shifters that often affect the demand curve of a health care product. As demonstrated in the example above, physician loyalties and experience are just two of the many types of demand shifters. This demand shifters can cause an even steeper rise in health care cost in the real world.
Organizational Plan – Part I Jose Garza HCS/587 September 9th, 2012 Pamela Hobbs Organizational Plan – Part I Organizations in the health care industry must adapt to the external changes occurring if they plan to be successful. For decades, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) remains one of the top hospitals on the Central Coast because its practices, but recent changes within Monterey County require the organization to make some changes. The biggest of these changes involves switching from paper charting to electronic medical records (EMR). An increase in the number of patients seen in the hospital emergency room daily is one of the primary reasons influencing this change. The first

The Cost of Health Care in the United States Health Care System Tiffany HCA 305 Professor: Teresa Thomas October 7, 2013 Healthcare costs in the United States has been a major issue in the United States for decades. With the population of the baby boomers increasing, and the population of the United States increasing, health care costs are rising and continue to do so. With Congress passing health care reforms, there has been little evidence in the reducing cost of health care. New and advanced technology within the health care field would be a great implementation in reducing health care costs. Also, if people took more responsibility of their health while insurance reforms develop, that would be another attempt in reducing health
According to data found on the Federal Budget website, we can see that medical care, national defense, and social security are the largest parts of expenditures of the U.S. government. As a member of the Congress, I would like to start reducing these three main expenditures. It is vital that we have a better medical care system. Health care in the United States has a long story, our government had tried to find the solution to this huge problem but they have not being successful yet. We are leaving in one of the most powerful nations in the world and we do not have a decent medical care system.
