® How does the rise of Christianity occur? The Rise of Christianity The rise of Christianity began when roman power spread to Judea, the home of the Jews in 63b.c. Some Jews allied with the romans and accepted their plans to change Jerusalem. For example the ruler Herod, who angered many Jews. When he died the Jews began to revolt against roman influence. Rome then took control of the Jewish kingdom and made it the province of Judea in 6a.d. Jesus was born in Judea, Bethlehem. Around 6 to 4b.c. Jesus was a Jew an a roman. He was baptized by the prophet known as john the Baptist. At the age of 20 he began public ministry. He taught, did good works, and preformed miracles. His teachings had many ideas from Jewish tradition. For example monotheism, belief in one god, and the Ten Commandments. He also taught that god will end all the evil things and he will make a kingdom for people who repented their sins. Jesus gathered twelve special disciples. It was also seemed as opposition to roman rule. So then rulers also used Christians as scapegoats for political and economic troubles. For example the emperor Nero was blamed for a disastrous fire in Rome, he said Christians were responsible fire in Rome and were ordered to be persecuted. The emperors after Nero did not continue the persecution. Later on as the pax romana began to crumble the romans executed Christians for refusing to worship roman gods.
